[틈틈이 영어공부] You should know better.

*know better (than that / than to do ~)

- 영한 : ~(할 정도로) 어리석지는 않다, 철이 들다.

- 영영 : To be wise or experienced enough not to do something.

- 활용 숙어 : 스스로의 후회/실망 = I should've known better. 내 생각이 짧았어. / 내가 그러지 말았어야 했는데.

- 예문 : 

He knows better than to judge by appearances. 
그가 외모로 사람을 판단할 정도로 어리석지는 않다.

You should know better than to lie to your teacher.
너는 선생님께 거짓말하지 않을 정도로 철이 들어야 해. (거짓말하면 안 되는 걸 알잖아.)
