Jesus did not meet the Samaritan woman by chance; it was God's work, planned within His divine providence. Jesus came to Samaria for this very purpose and spoke to the woman.
"Already the one who reaps is receiving wages and is gathering fruit for eternal life, so that the one who sows and the one who reaps may rejoice together." (John 4:36, NASB)
Gathering fruit for eternal life—harvesting souls—is God's work. Jesus came to fulfill this mission, and when He carried it out, He was not hungry even without food, nor was He in despair even when crucified. Instead, He had gratitude and joy. Jesus lived with the joy of doing God's work.
Above all, God has sown salvation through Jesus' cross and has prepared everything. Let us believe this, devote our hearts, time, and resources to spreading this gospel. Our true sustenance, our true inheritance, and our true joy in life are found in doing God's work.
