하나님이여 주는 나의 하나님이시라

O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you;

내 영혼이 주를 갈망하며 내 육체가 주를 앙모하나이다

내가 주의 권능과 영광을 보려 하여

I have seen you in the sanctuary

이와 같이 성소에서 주를 바라보았나이다

and beheld your power and your glory.

주의 인자가 생명보다 나으므로

Because your love is better than life,

내 입술이 주를 찬양할 것이라

my lips will glorify you.

바리새인과 사두개인들이 와서 예수를 시험하여 하늘로서 오는 표적 보이기를 청하니 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 너희가 저녁에 하늘이 붉으면 날이 좋겠다 하고 아침에 하늘이 붉고 흐리면 오늘은 날이 궂겠다 하나니 너희가 천기는 분별할줄 알면서 시대의 표적은 분별할 수 없느냐 악하고 음란한 세대가 표적을 구하나 요나의 표적 밖에는 보여 줄 표적이 없느니라 하시고 저희를 떠나 가시다 제자들이 건너편으로 갈째 떡 가져가기를 잊었더니 예수께서 이르시되 삼가 바리새인과 사두개인들의 누룩을 주의하라 하신대 제자들이 서로 의논하여 가로되 우리가 떡을 가져 오지 아니하였도다 하거늘 예수께서 아시고 가라사대 믿음이 적은 자들아 어찌 떡이 없음으로 서로 의논하느냐 너희가 아직도 깨닫지 못하느냐 떡 다섯 개로 오천 명을 먹이고 주운 것이 몇 바구니며 떡 일곱 개로 사천명을 먹이고 주운 것이 몇 광주리이던 것을 기억지 못하느냐 어찌 내 말한 것이 떡에 관함이 아닌 줄을 깨닫지 못하느냐 오직 바리새인과 사두개인들의 누룩을 주의하라 하시니 그제야 제자들이 떡의 누룩이 아니요 바리새인과 사두개인들의 교훈을 삼가라고 말씀하신 줄을 깨달으니라 마태복음 16:1-12

The Pharisees and Sadducees came up, and testing Jesus, they asked Him to show them a sign from heaven. But He replied to them, "When it is evening, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.' "And in the morning, 'There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.' Do you know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times? "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and a sign will not be given it, except the sign of Jonah." And He left them and went away. And the disciples came to the other side of the sea, but they had forgotten to bring any bread. And Jesus said to them, "Watch out and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees." They began to discuss this among themselves, saying, "He said that because we did not bring any bread." But Jesus, aware of this, said, "You men of little faith, why do you discuss among yourselves that you have no bread? "Do you not yet understand or remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets full you picked up? "Or the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many large baskets full you picked up? "How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees." Then they understood that He did not say to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees. 사흘의 은혜와 표적을 구하는 세대 A Generation seeking Three days of Grace and a Sign

우리는 지난 시간에 ‘주와 함께 한 사흘 길’에 대한 생각을 함께 했습니다. 그 길은 분명 고난의 과정이었고 더구나 주께서 함께 하신다는 어떠한 표적도 보이지 않았습니다. 그러기에 아브라함도, 요나도 이제 더 이상은 버틸 기력이 없어졌을 수 있습니다. 광야에 있어 어디 먹을 것을 구할 수 없던 그들도 역시 그러하였을 것입니다. 하지만 이 주와 함께 한 사흘은 이제 주께서 긍휼히 여기시고 친히 베풀어 주시는 부활의 때입니다.

사람들이 읽고 흔히 아는 바대로는 바리새인들과 사두개인들은 주님을 반대하고 그래서 주님께로부터 꾸지람을 많이 받은 이들입니다. 오늘 본문에서도 크게 다르지 않습니다. 주님은 그들을 “악하고 음란한 세대”라 하셨습니다. 그리고 제자들에게 그들의 ‘누룩’을 주의하라고 하셨습니다. 여기 누룩의 의미는 ‘교훈’이라고 정의하셨는데 이에 대한 것은 좀 더 생각해 볼 것입니다.

문제는 이들을 가리켜 말씀하신 ‘이 세대’라는 표현인데요, 흔히는 2000년 전 당시의 그들만으로 국한시키는 경향이 있습니다. 그러나 중요한 것은 이 세대가 모든 시대, 특히 우리가 사는 이 세대에도 여전히 적용되어야 한다는 것입니다. 그렇지 않으면 주님의 이 가르치심은 과거의 허공에 대고 말씀하신 것에 지나지 않습니다. 지나간 세대에서 머물지 말고 모든 시대, 오늘 이 세대에 하시는 주님의 음성을 들을 수 있어야 합니다.

당연하게도 그들에게 경계하라 하신 그들의 교훈이 이 시대에서도 설교되고 있기 때문입니다. 이 세대를 이해하는 것은 주님의 답에서 힌트를 찾을 수 있습니다. “요나의 표적” 이는 ‘사흘의 은혜’ 설교에서도 언급한 바처럼, 주와 함께 한 사흘 길의 끝에 이제 새로운 과정으로 넘어간다는 말씀입니다. 그리고 중요한 것은 그 사흘 길에 주님의 사흘, 즉 육체는 무덤에 계시지만 영으로 영원에서 옥에 갇힌 영들에게 선포하심이 거기 함께 하셨다는 사실입니다.

그들의 교훈을 굳이 ‘누룩’이라고 하심에는 천국에 대한 비유에서 이 누룩이라는 표현이 사용된 것과 연관됩니다. 거기에도 여자가 가루 서 말 속에 넣어 부풀게 한 누룩이라고 설명하고 있습니다. 다시 말하자면 바리새인들의 교훈은 아직 요나의 사흘 길을 가지 못한 것이라는 것이고 이는 서 말이 아직 가루가 되지 못해 부풀어 빵이 되지 못하고 술이 되어 오히려 사람의 마음을 흥분케 한다는 의미입니다.

이러한 세대의 특징은 하늘에서 오는 표적을 구하는 것입니다. 표적을 구하는 것은 곧 믿음의 부재에 대한 증거입니다. 사흘을 주와 함께 한 이들이 거한 곳이 광야였던 점을 주목해야 합니다. 거기는 어떤 영육간의 혜택이 주어지지 않은 상황입니다. 그들은 늘 부족함에 노출되었고 위험이 상주하였습니다. 하지만 그들은 주님을 떠나지 아니하였고 주님은 그것을 긍휼히 여기셨던 것입니다.

이런 세대를 가리켜 주님은 ‘악하고 음란한 세대’라고 선언하셨습니다. 왜일까요? 믿음은 결국 보이는 증거를 가져옵니다. 그러나 증거를 먼저 바라는 것이나 표적이 먼저인 것은 믿음이 우선되지 않는 것입니다. 그것은 이해일 뿐입니다. 이를 깨달은 아브라함이 100세에 낳은 믿음의 증거인 아들 이삭을 제물로 바치려 하였던 것입니다. 주님이 말씀하신대로 보이는 표적을 먼저 구하는 것이 악하고 음란한 세대라는 것을 더 깊이 묵상할 필요가 있습니다.

In the last session, we shared our thoughts on the "Three Days with the Lord." The road was certainly a process of hardship, and there was no sign of the Lord's company. Abraham and Jonah may have no more energy to endure. So may they have been unable to find anything to eat in the wilderness. But the three days with the Lord are now a time of resurrection, a time when the Lord takes it kindly and gives it personally.

As people read and know, Pharisees and Sadducees individuals are against the Lord and have been scolded a lot by him. In today's text, it is not much different. The Lord called them "An evil and adulterous generation." And he told his disciples to watch out for their leaven. He defined the meaning of leaven here as "teaching," but we will think about it more.

The problem is that they are referred to as "this generation," which often tends to be confined to them from 2000 years ago, but the important thing is that this generation should still be applied to all eras, especially to this generation that we live in. Otherwise, the Lord's teaching is nothing more than speaking to the air of the past. Instead of staying in past generations, you should be able to hear the Lord's voice in all eras and in this generation today.

Naturally, this is because even in this day and age, their lessons that have been told to be vigilant are being preached. Understanding this generation can be seen in the Lord's answer. "Sign of Jonah" means that after three days with the Lord, we are now moving on to a new process, as mentioned in the 'Three Days of Grace' sermon. And what matters is that on those three days, the Lord's three days, the body is in the tomb, but the proclamation to the spirits captured in prison from eternity was there.

To refer to their lesson as 'leaven', it is related to the use of this expression‎ in a parable for heaven. It also explains that it is a yeast that a woman puts in three pecks of flour. In other words, the Pharisees' teaching is that they have not yet gone on Jonah's three-day path, meaning that the grain has not yet become flour, instead of swelling into bread, becomes alcohol, and rather excites people's hearts.

The characteristic of this generation is to seek a target from heaven. To seek a target is evidence of the absence of faith. It should be noted that the place where those who lived with the Lord for three days lived in the wilderness. There were no spiritual and physical benefits. They were always exposed to inadequacy and danger existed. But they did not leave the Lord, and the Lord had a compassion.

By referring to this generation, the Lord declared 'An evil and adulterous generation.' Why? Faith eventually brings visible evidence. However, if you want evidence first or if you want the sign first, faith does not take precedence. It is only an understanding. Abraham, who realized this, was trying to sacrifice his son Isaac, who is proof of faith at the age of 100. It is necessary to meditate more deeply on the fact that it is An evil and adulterous generation to seek the sign first, as the Lord has said.
