Dreaming of becoming a late bloomer
EBS televises the animation of “3,000 Leagues in Search of Mother” on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening. My two sons watch the animation having dinner. When I was about 7 years old, the animation was televised on Sunday morning. At that time, I looked forward to watching the animation. When I watched the animation, I used to be worried that my mother might have gone away. My two sons often say, “Mommy, don’t go away,” to me as I did.
The historical background of the animation was the emigration of Italians to Argentina in the 19th century. Marco is a nine-year-old boy. His mother went to Argentina to make money. After his mother went there, she sent him the letter for a while. But later, Marco couldn’t receive his mother’s letter. So, Marco went to Argentina with his best monkey friend “Amedio” to search his mother. Before leaving Italy, he had to work hard in order to get a passenger ship fare. When arriving there, he couldn’t see his mother and even hear anything of his mother. After experiencing a difficulty looking for his mother, he could find his mother. But she got really sick. That’s why she couldn’t send him the letter. After they met each other, his mother recovered rapidly thanks to Marco. After that, they went to Italy back.
Italy is definitely much richer than Argentina now. I think the former is a developed country and the latter is a developing country or undeveloped country. But on the contrary, it was definitely different in the 19th century. That’s why Marco’s mother went to Argentina to make money. I could acknowledge that there were no eternal winners and losers by watching the animation. This is an eternal truth.
Now, I’m just a normal and humble housewife. Even though I can sort of manage my life, I can’t say that I am a winner in my life. But I am living in the present progressive form, rather than in the present perfect tense grammar-wise. My future can be changed by my will as long as I struggle to be a winner. Who knows I will be a late bloomer?
첫댓글 I love your ideas. ^^ (what does the mean of grammar-wise??)
Hi, Carah! Thanks^^. Grammar-wise is an adverb. It means "in terms of grammar" or "regarding grammar."
