"어메이징 그레이스"는 1772년 영국 성공회 성직자이자 시인인 

존 뉴턴(1725-1807)이 작사하고 1779년에 출판된 기독교 찬송가입니다. 

특히 미국에서 종교적, 세속적 목적으로 널리 사용되는 매우 인기 있는 찬송가입니다.

기존 찬송가 가사에 "My chains are gone, I've been set free"

 (내 사슬은 풀렸고, 나는 자유케 되었네)라는 구절이 추가되어 

구원의 기쁨을 더욱 강조한 것이 특징입니다.

그게 나 같은 놈을 구한 거야

나는 한때 길을 잃었지만 지금은 찾았습니다.
I once was lost, but now I'm found

눈이 멀었는데 이제 알겠네
Was blind, but now I see

내 마음에 두려움을 가르쳐 준 것은 은혜였습니다.
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear

그리고 내 두려움이 완화되도록 은혜를 베푸소서
And grace my fears relieved

그 은혜가 얼마나 귀하게 나타났습니까?
How precious did that grace appear

내가 처음 믿었던 그 시간
The hour I first believed

내 사슬이 사라졌어요

나는 자유로워졌습니다
