신명기 5장23_33

    백성이 모세의 중개를 요청하다 

23"산이 불에 타고 있는 가운데,어둠 속에서 울려 나오는 소리를 듣고,너희 지파의 

    우두머리들과 원로들이 모두 나에게 가까이 와서

24 말하였다. '보십시오,주 우리 하느님께서 우리에게 당신의 영광과 위대함을 보여 주시고,

    우리는 불 속에서 울려 나오는 그분의 소리를 들었습니다. 그리고 하느님께서 사람과 

    말씀하셨는데도 그 사람이 살아 있는 것을 오늘 우리가 보았습니다. 

25 그런데,이제 왜 우리가 죽어야 합니까? 이 큰 불이 우리를 삼키려 하고 있습니다. 우리가 

    주 우리 하느님의 소리를 듣는다면,우리는 죽게될 것입니다. 

26 육체를 가진 사람 가운데,살아 계신 하느님께서 불속에서 말씀하시는 것을 듣고도 우리처럼 

    산 사람이 어디 있습니까? 

27 그러니 당신께서 가까이 가시어 주 우리 하느님께서 말씀하시는 것을 모두 들으십시오.

    그리고 주 우리 하느님께서 하신 모든 말씀을 우리에게 전해 주시면,우리가 듣고 실천하겠습니다.'

28 주님께서는 너희가 나에게 말할 때에 그 말을 들으시고,나에게 말씀하셨다. '이 백성이 너에게 한 

    말을 다 들었다. 그들이 한말은 모두 옳다.

29 그들이 그러한 마음을 가져,늘 나를 경외하고 나의 모든 계명을 지킨다면 얼마나 좋겠느냐? 

    그러면 그들과 그들 자손들이 영원토록 잘될 것이다. 

30 가서 그들에게 천막으로 돌아가라고 일러라.

31 그러나 너는 여기에서 나와 함께 있어라.네가 그들에게 가르쳐야 할 모든 계명과 규정과 법규를 

    내가 너에게 일러 주겠다. 그들은 내가 그들에게 차지하라고 주는 땅에서 그것들을 실천해야 한다.'

32 그러므로 너희는,주 너희 하느님께서 너희에게 명령하신 대로 그것들을 명심하여 실천해야 한다.

    너희는 오른쪽으로도 왼쪽으로도 벗어나서는 안 된다. 

33 너희는 주 너희 하느님께서 너희에게 명령하신 길을 따라 걸어야 한다. 그러면 너희가 차지할 땅에서 

    너희가 살 수 있을 뿐만 아니라,잘되고 오래 살 것이다."

23. But when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was ablaze with fire, you came to me in the person of all your tribal heads and elders,
24. and said, 'The LORD, our God, has indeed let us see his glory and his majesty! We have heard his voice from the midst of the fire and have found out today that a man can still live after God has spoken with him.
25. But why should we die now? Surely this great fire will consume us. If we hear the voice of the LORD, our God, any more, we shall die.

26. For what mortal has heard, as we have, the voice of the living God speaking form the midst of fire, and survived?
27. Go closer, you, and hear all that the LORD, our God, will say, and then tell us what the LORD, our God, tells you; we will listen and obey.'
28. "The LORD heard your words as you were speaking to me and said to me, 'I have heard the words these people have spoken to you, which are all well said.
29. Would that they might always be of such a mind, to fear me and to keep all my commandments! Then they and their descendants would prosper forever.

30. Go, tell them to return to their tents.
31. Then you wait here near me and I will give you all the commandments, the statutes and decrees you must teach them, that they may observe them in the land which I am giving them to possess.'
32. "Be careful, therefore, to do as the LORD, your God, has commanded you, not turning aside to the right or to the left,
33. but following exactly the way prescribed for you by the LORD, your God, that you may live and prosper, and may have long life in the land which you are to occupy.
