Just as Jesus did not condemn the woman’s sin, He does not condemn our sins now. This does not mean there is no sin, but that He does not condemn us. He gives us a chance to renew ourselves.
Think about what He meant when He said, “From now on do not sin any longer.” He acknowledged the woman’s sin but did not condemn her. However, this does not mean sin is acceptable—we must not continue in it.
If we condemn others, God will one day judge us by the same standard. Therefore, refraining from condemning others is also a way to prevent ourselves from being condemned by Jesus.
Because Jesus does not condemn us, we should not condemn others. And as we strive to forgive those who sin against us, Jesus, in turn, forgives us. This is the way of faith.
By the law, this woman should have died. Jesus affirmed that she was a sinner according to the law, yet He did not put her to death. Let us live with a deep understanding of what this means.
