<p>Many people believed in Jesus, while many others hated Him and argued with Him, as seen in John 8.</p><p> </p><p>Today's passage is directed at those who believe in and listen to Jesus—specifically, the believing Jews, and by extension, us.</p><p> </p><p><i>“If you continue in My word, then you are truly My disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”</i></p><p> </p><p>Abiding in Jesus' words makes one His disciple. To abide means to "remain." Believing in Jesus means dwelling in His words.</p><p>To become Jesus' disciple, one must dwell in His words and serve in the church. A disciple of Jesus and a church worker are the same. A church worker must be a disciple who follows Jesus.</p><p> </p><p>By doing so, one comes to know the truth, and that truth sets us free. The meaning of truth is righteousness, firmness (unshakable), integrity, and eternity.
