There are two kinds of people, exactly English experts.
One insists that pronounciation in English is so important that we should put lots of time in practicing pronounciation. And the other insists that the pronounciation is not as important as accuracy or other facts in English. So the latter says we just need to enhance pronounciation to a certain degree, not much.
In my experience, most native speakers understand my English almost all the time. But they are the foreigners who've gotten used to our accents. And I heard that when we speak English in English-speaking countries, they quite often don't understand.
첫댓글My experience is that natives understand foreign accents very well, even better than I do. So as long as you pronunciation is not totally off, you will be able to communicate with them.
English is either your first language or it isn't. Your pronunciation may be slightly off, or more than slightly off. Your pronunciation doesn't have to take a backseat to anything. But remember, natives are interested in what you have to say, not your pronunciation (nor your grammar - to some
extent any way). Although your writing doesn't have to bear the mark of genius, you should be able to communicate your ideas clearly. You can't even strike a conversation with someone you just met in a bar about anything without content, no matter how good your pronunciation is. You won't last five
minutes with just the hi-what's-up kind of talk. Stay with 영작사랑, and sharpen up your writing skills, you'll be on the right track. Who am I to say all this? Well... trust me, I've been there. ^^
