To experience Canadian art and culture, I went to the McMichael Canadian Art Collection Center.
It's an Art Center dedicated to the Group of Seven, Canada's leading artists.
It was really useful time. It sparked my interest in Canadian arts and culture.
The Group of Seven was a group of Canadian landscape painters from 1920 to 1933 :
Members : Franklin Carmichael, Lawren Harris, A. Y. Jackson, Frank Johnston, Arthur Lismer, J. E. H. MacDonald, and Frederick Varley.
They are known for Known for their expressionist works, bright colors, and unique painting style.
They've been criticized for depicting northern Canada as terra nullius, or no-man's-land, when it's been lived in for centuries by indigenous people.
The Group of Seven were also known as the Algonquin School. The artists traveled across Canada to reach the views that inspired their art, often living in less than ideal conditions.
