I can understand English, but when I want to speak, I can't! This is a very common question for English learners, and it can have different reasons. I'm afraid it takes a lot of time to learn English and I couldn't be patient enough. It's about two years which I I've been practicing but I think I'm not well to reach to my aim
As for communication skills I learn whole sentences saying them aloud. 5 days - 300 repetitions per day at least. Later I don't need to translate. I know the meaning of words straight away like in my native language. And also I remember the meaning longer than by learning separate words. This method is called: chunking. It was a real game changer in my learning process in English and other languages.

"Talk to yourself" is exactly what my English teacher Adam told me. It's a great tip!
"You don't need a partner. You can just talk to yourself!" - That's the best advice I've heard))))

@Mario-bl6ct I don't record that. Prefer to focus on learning. Sometimes one new sentence a day and some words. And revising old ones. Below some details what I do::: I try to repeat a sentence until I can say it without hesitation or mistakes. During practice I say it realy slow at the beginning. Later alternating speed either extremely fast or slow. I don't have any set amount of reps. Just drilling until being confident. Sometimes if I have difficulties I repeat something continuously for example for 30 minutes streight. Recently I stopped counting. Just measuring time. Let's say 5 minutes gives you 100 reps. So repeat something 10-15 minutes. I try to choose short sentences 4-5 words. Or just practicing separate single words, pairs of words, 3 words together. Long sentences are very time consuming and difficult to repeat. From experience I noticed that it usually takes 5 days or more to remember something. Recently I stopped making notes just to focus on practicing. I don't use any SRS system like Anki. Only using online pons de dictionary (as I currently learn German) and bookmark some words. It is chaotic learning at the moment. I don't have any plan. Just watching videos repeatedly, reading comments and choosing some sentences, words. So videos show me what I should revise and what I don't remember. I mix practicing very old sentences and completely new ones. No particular strict rule. You can also repeat in your mind. Doesn't have to be aloud if you cannot. Please check similair method: sentence mining. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktkHjL_PMc4

Excellent advice to not give too much weight to errors: I realized that when I try to speak in English, the thing that blocks me most is the fear of making a mistake...
Same here , I've experienced that and everyone started bullying me and making fun of my English (tho it's my third language)
On point my friend, in my case i also hate my accent

@Victoria-rz6uc when someone makes fun of you for making little mistakes try to remember them maybe its because you know more than one language and they don't lmao

@millysingss i have a friend who is well above me in the speaking department, when i make a mistake he points it out and respects it, try to find someone who also has english as a second or third language sure they will understand your issues way better and help you evolve

Great tips to help someone in their English speaking. I’d say the most important tip is to practice to speaking and listening! Think about small children, a child learns a language first by listening and speaking - they make so many grammar mistakes when they’re younger which is perfectly normal but they don’t get scared to make those mistakes. So to everyone who feels like they can understand English but not speak it don’t be scared to make those mistakes because making mistakes is the only way to learn

It's true, I have the same problem. When I was watching your video, I understand everything you're talking about, but I can't speak. I can't put two words together. How much you can appreciate for listening in English. Thanks for the video, I'll keep following you.

The reason i came looking for such a video is beause back in the day in high school i was extremely confident when speaking and writing English, but over time i've debeloped this dire perfectionism that holds me back when speaking and writing.

Nice video! The biggest piece of advice I give my students is stop trying to be perfect, and just start trying. When you do this, you allow yourself to speak freely and that leads to improvement!
