                                           Freedom from petty Hesitation... Article 243.

不苟(불구)는 착함을 결행함에 있어 구차스럽지 않음이다.

  "Uncompromising Resolution (不苟,불구 - Bulgu)" means being free from petty hesitation

    or petty compromise when carrying out goodness.

본 바탕이 착한 사람은 결행함이 없어 유약하고 훌륭한 결단을 내림에 머뭇거리고 지체하나
착함으로서 결행하는 것은 행하고져 하면 반드시 행하여야 하고 베풀고져 한다면 구차스럽지 말아야 한다.

  A person who is merely good by nature often lacks decisive action,

  remaining weak-willed, hesitant, and slow to reach noble decisions;

  however, carrying out goodness through resolute action means that if one intrnds to act,

  one must act, and if one intends to bestow kindness, one must not be petty or grudging.

不苟者는 善有決而不苟且也라 (불구자는 선유결이불구차야라)

  One who practices 'Uncompromising Resolution(不苟,불구)' has decisiveness in goodness

   and is not petty or careless.

性善者 無決則柔하여 (성선자 무결즉유하여)

  One who is merely good by nature, lacking decisiveness, becomes weak-willed,

潁斷이 遂滯하나니 (영단이 수체하나니)

  and thus their wise and noble decisions end up delayed and stalled.

善之決은 欲行必行하며 (선지결은 욕행필행하며)

  The decisiveness of goodness means that if one tntends to act, one must act,

欲施에 無所苟且하느니라. (욕시에 무소구차하느니라.)

  and when intending to bestow kindness, there is no place for petty hesitation or reluctance.

  ※ Key Notes.

    ● 不苟(불구) : Uncompromising Resolution / Freedom from Petty Hesitation

                          [여기서 "不(아닐 부)"는 ~하지 않음, "苟(구차할 구)"는 구차하다. 대충하다,머뭇거리다를 뜻합니다.

                            즉, 선을 행할 때 구차하게 잰체하거나 머뭇거리지 않고 단호하게 실천함을 의미합니다.]

    ● 유약하고 훌륭한 결단을 내림에 머뭇거리고 지체하나 : Waking-willed, hesitant, and slow to reach noble                                  decisions(마음만 착하고 우유부단하여 정작 필요한 순간에 결단력을 발휘하지 못하는 약점을

                           지적합니다.)

    ● 베풀고자 한다면 구차스럽지 말아야 한다 : If one intends to bestow kindness, one must not be petty

                      (선행이나 베풂을 할 때 생색을 내거나 쪼들린 마음으로 망설이지 않고 호탕하고 단호하게 행햐야

                        진정한 '不苟(불구)'의 선이 완성된다는 의미입니다.)

    ● 不苟且(불구차) : Not petty or careless / free from makeshift compromises[ 不苟(구차)는 일시적인

                       안일함이나 구차함을 뜻하며, 선을 핼할 때 명확하고 단호하게 임함을 의미합니다.]

    ● 柔(부드러울 유) : Weak-willed / Overly soft(여기서는 유연함보다는 우유부단하고 결단력이 부족한

                        상태를 나타냅니다.)

    ● 潁斷(영단) : Wise decision / Brilliant resolution [潁(영)은 벼이삭 끝이나 뛰어난 지혜를,

                        斷(단)은 결단을 의미하여 "뛰어난 결단력"을 뜻합니다.]

    ● 遂滯(수체) : Ending up stalled / Delayed [ 滯(체)는 막히가나 지체됨을 뜻합니다.]

    ● 欲施(욕시) : Intending to bestow / Desiring to grant(남에게 은혜를 베풂을 주고자 함.)
