Dedicated to Healing: Following the Footsteps of Dr. Paul Farmer

Throughout history, countless individuals have dedicated their lives to serving humanity. Among them, Dr. Paul Farmer, a renowned physician and anthropologist who spent his life providing modern healthcare to the world's poorest communities, deeply inspired me. Before his efforts began in rural Haiti, quality medical treatments  had been deniedto impoverished people due to a lack of resources and infrastructure.

While reading about his life, I learned the true meaning of medical justice. Until Dr. Farmer established Partners In Health, infectious diseases like tuberculosis had been considered untreatable in low-income regions by many global health organizations. However, Dr. Farmer himself proved that poverty should never be a death sentence. He demonstrated that scientific advancement must go hand in hand with social compassion.

This realization made me feel a profound sense of responsibility as an aspiring researcher in pharmaceutical and health sciences. Before reading his story, my interest in science had been focused mainly on personal academic achievements and technical knowledge. I felt deeply moved by how one person's selfless commitment could restore hope to thousands of lives and reform global health policy.

Inspired by Dr. Farmer's legacy, I am determined to apply these lessons directly to my future career goal: developing affordable pharmaceuticals and medical technologies for underserved populations. The process of drug discovery itself can be long and challenging, but I want to ensure that life-saving treatments reach those who need them most, regardless of their economic background.

Furthermore, I plan to participate in global health projects so that equity in healthcare can be achieved worldwide. Just as effective medical care had been brought to the most isolated villages through Dr. Farmer's vision, I will dedicate myself to innovating healthcare solutions that heal not only diseases, but also global inequality. The global health mission itself requires continuous passion and empathy, and I am ready to walk this path.
