Summary:
A division arose among the Jews because of Jesus' words. Some accused Him of being demon-possessed and insane, while others argued that His teachings and miracles, like opening the eyes of the blind, were not those of a demon-possessed man.
Teaching:
The Jews did not want to abandon their current comfort and deliberately live an inconvenient life. Although they saw many evidences of Jesus being the Messiah through His words and firsthand testimony, they refused to acknowledge it. Instead, they sought to falsely accuse someone and make Him a scapegoat for their own benefit.
We, too, can be like this. We respond to Jesus' words in the same way when they go against our own thoughts and experiences.
The sheep listen to the voice of the Good Shepherd. By hearing His voice and entering through the gate of the sheep, they dwell in God's house. Though they may not have material abundance, they experience the fullness of peace found in Jesus.
