It may be a good idea if I point out the main changes:
The deposit has gone up from 200 GBP to 250 GBP. As you know, this is not an extra charge - it is deducted from the total invoice.
The Registration fee has increased by 10 GBP and will now be 40 GBP (60 GBP for courses which are 12 weeks +) . This fee covers materials and a free course book every 12 weeks.
There will no longer be an accommodation placement fee.
Tuition and accommodation rates have gone up by 10 GBP per week.
The IELTS / Academic English course is now run as a full-time course (previously there were classes just in the afternoon). Details of course contents are on our website. Here is the link:
Terms and conditions The main change is that from 1 January 2011, tuition fees will no longer be refundable. In the past we always refunded tuition fees, provided students gave us 2 weeks’ notice as we felt that if students didn’t want to be here for whatever reason, it was best to let them go, even if they were going to use the refund money to travel around Europe. The reason we feel forced to make the change and fall into line with other language schools is because all students must have the same conditions and with the tighter UKBA controls, students with General Student Visas who do not complete their course become a statistic which can count against the school and affect our status as a sponsor.
We considered automatically adding an insurance charge to students’ tuition fees to cover students against the risk of cancellation and early departure but then we realised that many students already have their own insurance and besides, many of our representatives offer insurance as part of their package. I think the main thing we have to do is to advise students of the situation and recommend that that they are insured. If students want to organise this themselves, for a comprehensive and competitive policy we suggest they contact Gibbs Denley www.course-u-can.com
We will, of course, continue to refund accommodation fees, provided that the students give us 2 weeks’ notice if they are in a homestay or Goldney Hall or 4 weeks if they are in self-catering accommodation, except during the first 4 weeks of a stay, when only one week’s notice is necessary in all accommodation.
For full information about these updates, have a look at the enrol secton of our website or page 2 of the attached document and of course, if you have any questions about the changes, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Kindest regards
John
