새 노래로 여호와께 찬송하라 대저 기이한 일을 행하사

O sing to the LORD a new song, For He has done wonderful things,

그 오른손과 거룩한 팔로 자기를 위하여 구원을 베푸셨도다

His right hand and His holy arm have gained the victory for Him.

여호와께서 그 구원을 알게 하시며

The LORD has made known His salvation;

그 의를 열방의 목전에 명백히 나타내셨도다

He has revealed His righteousness in the sight of the nations.

저가 이스라엘 집에 향하신 인자와 성실을 기억하셨으므로

He has remembered His lovingkindness and His faithfulness

to the house of Israel;

땅의 모든 끝이 우리 하나님의 구원을 보았도다

All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth;

Break forth and sing for joy and sing praises.

어린 아이의 눈 The Eye of Children

그 때에 제자들이 예수께 나아와 가로되 천국에서는 누가 크니이까 예수께서 한 어린 아이를 불러 저희 가운데 세우시고 가라사대 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 너희가 돌이켜 어린 아이들과 같이 되지 아니하면 결단코 천국에 들어가지 못하리라 그러므로 누구든지 이 어린 아이와 같이 자기를 낮추는 그이가 천국에서 큰 자니라 마태복음 18:1-4

At that time the disciples came to Jesus and said, "Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" And He called a child to Himself and set him before them, and said, "Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. "Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:1-4

지금 제자들은 자신들이 잘못된 질문을 하고 있다는 사실을 깨닫지 못합니다. 저들이 한 질문, 즉 ‘누가 더 크냐?’는 생각 자체가 세상에 속한 것이었습니다. 그들은 천국을 잘못 이해하고 있었습니다. 천국은 세상의 가치의 기준이 더 이상 적용되지 않는 곳입니다. 사람들은 더 크게 되려 합니다. 더 높아지려 합니다. 그것은 가진 소유가 많아진다는 의미도 되고 다른 사람들을 지배한다는 의미도 됩니다. 즉 더 높아져서 왕 노릇하려 하는 것입니다.

그래서 지금 그 기준을 그대로 가지고 천국에서까지 누가 더 크냐를 주님께 물어본 것입니다. 지구에 살고 있는 어떤 것도 지구의 중력에서 자유롭지 못하듯이 이 세상에 사는 이는 누구라도 제자들의 이 질문과 생각에서 벗어나 있다고 자신 있게 말할 수 있는 사람이 과연 몇이나 되겠습니까? 주님은 어린 아이처럼 자신을 낮추는 자가 천국에서 크다 하셨지만 어린아이들도 제 소유를 주장하고 영역을 지키려는 본성은 아마 다르지 않을 것입니다.

그러나 주님은 천국이시고 하늘에서 오셨으니 마땅히 이러한 질문의 속성을 잘 아셨을 것입니다. 하지만 저들이 아직 세상이라 그들에 맞게 눈을 뜨라고 하나의 힌트를 주신 것입니다. 그것이 ‘어린 아이처럼’입니다. 그렇다고 모든 어린아이가 다 천국에 속하였다는 말은 아닙니다. 단지 사람들이 성장하여 어른이 되면서 소위 성공하고 무언가를 이루었다는 것은 대부분 소유나 지배에 속한 것들인데 아이는 오히려 그런 것들이 없다는 의미입니다.

즉 세상의 생각과 반대로 생각해야 참을 찾을 수 있다는 말씀을 하신 것입니다. 어른이 아이를 지배하고 속여 먹는 것은 쉽습니다. 그런데 아이가 어른을 속여 먹으면 비정상입니다. 이는 우리가 살면서 남을 누르고 위에 올라가는 방법들을 많이 터득한다는 말입니다. 그런 방법들을 다 내려놓아야 한다고 하신 것입니다. 그래서 아마도 이 질문을 하였던 제자들은 주님의 말씀을 따라, 이제까지 자신들이 사용하던 방법들을 버리려 했을 것입니다.

우리는 이런 상황에서 자신 속에 높아지려는 욕구, 악한 욕심을 발견할 수 있을 것입니다. 그것을 괴로워하고 대항하여 싸우려 하였습니다. 그러나 중력장 안에서 아무리 무게를 줄여도 결국 사라지지 않는 이상 중력에서 벗어날 수 없듯이 이 세상의 관점과 가치관의 틀 안에서는 결국 이러한 욕구와 정죄감에서 벗어날 수 없습니다. 주께서 알려주신 것은 그 세상의 틀에서 벗어나라는 말씀이었습니다.

인간은 하나님의 형상으로 지음을 받아서 결국 그 목표는 하나님의 완전함에 이르는 것입니다. 이는 무신론자도 마찬가지입니다. 문제는 하나님과 분리된 자신이 스스로의 노력으로 이 목표에 이르려 한다는 데 있습니다. 그런데 그것은 결국 불가능합니다. 이것이 정죄감의 원천입니다. 그리고 신앙을 가지면서 이 욕구를 거스르는 것이 맞다 생각합니다. 그리고 결국 그 또한 불가능함을 알게 됩니다.

문제는 노력의 부족이 아닙니다. 지구 중력장 안에서는 중력을 벗어날 수 없듯이 우리가 하나님과 분리된 세상에서 하나님처럼 되려 하는 한, 우리는 이 정죄감에서 벗어날 수 없습니다. 참 하나님이시오, 참 사람이신 주께서 우리에게 오셔서 우리와 하나 되셨을 때, 우리는 하나님과의 연합된 존재가 됩니다. 그러면 우리 존재의 목표가 나와 하나 되셨으니 우리는 더 이상 더 높아지려 하는 욕구를 가질 필요가 없어집니다. 이것이 천국입니다.

Now the disciples don't realize they're asking the wrong question. The question they asked was, "Who's bigger in heaven?" The idea itself belongs to the world. They had a wrong understanding of heaven. Heaven is a place where the world's standards of value no longer apply. People want to be bigger. They want to be higher. It means more possession, it means more control over others. It means to be higher and become king.

That's why they asked the Lord who was the greatest in heaven with that standard as it is now. How many people in the world can confidently say that nothing on Earth is free from the gravity of the Earth? The Lord said that those who lower themselves like children are great in heaven, but children probably have no different nature to claim their possession and defend their territory.

However, since the Lord is heaven and comes from heaven, He must have understood the nature of these questions. But since they are still in the world, He gave them a hint to open their eyes to suit them. It's like ‘a child’. That's not to say that all children belonged to heaven. It's just that when people grow up and become adults, so-called success and accomplish something, most of them belong to possession and domination, but children don't have that.

In other words, the Lord stated that you must think in the opposite way to what the world thinks to find the Truth. It is easy for an adult to dominate and deceive a child. However, if a child deceives an adult, it is abnormal. This means that we learn a lot of ways to push others and stand up in our lives. He said that we should put all of those methods down. So the disciples who asked this question probably followed the Lord's words and tried to abandon the methods they had used until now.

In this situation, we will be able to discover the desire to rise in ourselves and the evil greed. We suffered and tried to fight it. However, within the framework of the world's perspectives and values, we cannot escape this desire and guilt, just as no matter how much weight you reduce in the field of gravity, you cannot escape from gravity unless it eventually disappears. What the Lord told me was to get out of the frame of the world.

Humans are made in the image of God, so the goal is to reach God's perfection. This is the same for atheists. The problem is that he, separated from God, is trying to reach this goal with his own efforts. However, in the end, it is impossible. This is the source of guilt. And I think it's right to go against this desire while having faith. And eventually, he also finds it impossible.

The problem is not a lack of effort. As long as we try to be like God in a world separated from God, just as we cannot escape gravity in the Earth's gravitational field, we cannot escape this guilt. God, when the Lord, who is the true man and true God, comes to us and is united with us, we become united with God. Then, since the goal of our existence is united with me, we no longer need to have a desire to rise higher. This is heaven.
