                                               Preserving All Creation... Article 247.

착함은 만물이 보존되는 것을 기뻐하고 만물이 없어지는 것을 싫어하니

  Goodness takes joy in the preservation of all creation and grieves over its loss,

그물로 잡힌 것을 놓아주고 사냥으로 잡힌 것을 슬퍼한다.

  releasing what is caught in nets and mourning what is taken by hunting.

그물에 잡힌 것을 놓아주는 것은 날개를 구름사이의 하늘로  떨치는 것을 보기 위함이고

  Releasing what was netted is to watch wings soar into the sky between the clouds,

사냥으로 잡힌 것을 슬퍼함은 언덕사이로 다리를 펼치는 것을 볼 수 없기 때문이다.

  and mourning what was hunted is because one csan no longer see them run free across the hills.

善은 喜物存而惡物亡하나니 (선은 희물존이오물망하나니)

  Goodness delights in the preservation of all creation and detests its destruction,

羅而放之하며 獵而悲之라 (라이방지하며 엽이비지라)

  releasing what is trapped in nets and grieving over what is taken by hunting.

放之者는 見其拂翼于雲霄하고 (방지자는 견기불익우운소하고)

  To release them is to watch them flap their wings high up toward the clouds,

悲之者는 不見其展脚于丘陵이니라. (비지자는 불견기전각우구릉이니라.)

  and to grieve over them is because one can no longer see them run free across the hills.

태백일사 삼신오제본기에 의하면

  According to Samsin Oje Bongi in taebaek llsa,

우리고대국가의 풍습에는 "살생을 함에 있어서  첫째로 함부로 죽여서는 안되는 것이니

  the customs of our ancient state record; 

  "regarding the taking of life, first, one must never kill recklessly.

부여의 풍습에 말이 있어도 타지않고 죽이는 것을 금하고 방생한다. 함이 역시 이런 뜻이다.

  In the customs of Buyeo, even if horses were available,

  riding them was avoided and killing them was forbidden,

  releasing them instead; this, too, carries the same meaning.

그러므로 깃든 짐승을 죽이지 않으며 알을 품은 짐승은 죽이지 않는다함은

그 번식할때를 가려서 죽이지 않기 때문이다.

  Therefore, refraining from killing roosting animals or creatures brooding eggs

   is because one refrains from killing by considering their breeding seasons.

어리것을 죽이지 않고 이로운 짐승을 죽이지 않는 것은 그 짐승의 종류를 가림이다.

  Refraining from killing the young and helpful animals is by distinguishing

  the species of those creatures.

物(물)을 중하게 여기기를 이처럼 지극하였다."고 했다.

  Thus, reverence for all living things(物,물) was reached to such an extreme degree.

이러한 아름다운 풍습의  근원중의 하나가 곧 247事(사)  存物(존물)일것이다.
 One of the roots of such a beautiful custom is likely Item 247, Jonmul(Preserving Creation).

  ※ Key Notes.

      ● 喜(희) : 기뻐하다(delight in / rejoice).

      ● 惡(오) : 미워하다, 싫어하다(detest / hate).

      ● 羅(라) : 그물(net / trap).

      ● 獵(엽) : 사냥하다(hunt).

      ● 拂翼(불익) : 날개를 털다 / 치다(flap / spread wings). 

      ● 雲霄(운소) : 구름 위 높은 하늘(high sky /clouds).

      ● 展脚(전각) : 다리를 펴다(run / stretch legs to leap).
