■ The double-handed sword (Ssangsukum, both hands together) and double swords (Ssangkum, both hands seperately) are extensions of each other in training.

In Haedong Kumdo, both the single-handed sword and double-handed sword (Ssangsukum) are utilized. From this foundation, the system of double swords (Ssangkum) was developed. This system not only encompasses techniques specific to double swords but also emphasizes balanced breathing, mental calmness, mindfulness, and awareness as essential components for recognizing and harnessing the flow of energy through Kimu Practice (energy practice) and Healing Practice.

In essence, if a practitioner of Haedong Kumdo claims to favor only the single-handed sword or the double-handed sword (Ssangsukum) and shows no interest in the double swords (Ssangkum), it indicates a lack of understanding of the essence and principles of swordsmanship.

Training with the double-handed sword (Ssangsukum) necessarily involves training with the single-handed sword.

Training with double swords (Ssangkum) not only teaches the principles of swordsmanship but also encompasses the essence of both the single-handed and double-handed swords, as well as the principles of martial arts.

During the 2024 USA HK Seminar, participants will directly experience:

1. Why training with both the single-handed sword and double-handed sword (Ssangsukum) is necessary.
2. Why a system for training with double swords (Ssangkum) should exist.
3. Why training in Energy Flow is fundamental.
4. Why Kimu Practice is necessary.
5. How it is directly connected to Healing Practice.

These are all fundamental principles that reveal the essence of martial arts and weapon techniques.
