Summary:
Jesus revealed God’s name to His disciples, who belonged to God and accepted His word. They believed Jesus came from God. Jesus prays for them, not the world, because they are God’s. All Jesus has is God’s, and He is glorified in them.
Teaching:
“I ask on their behalf; I do not ask on behalf of the world, but on the behalf of those whom You have given Me, because they are Yours”
The people Jesus prays for are those whom the Father has given Him. Jesus loves those who believe and prays for them. They are the Father's possession, given to Jesus. Therefore, we belong to the Father. Our bodies and our lives are the Father’s.
“I have been glorified in them”
Jesus is glorified in us when we ask for the Father’s things in His name. Then Jesus accomplishes the Father’s will in us. As a result, the Father’s name is revealed among us, and Jesus gives glory to the Father. Through this, Jesus is glorified in us.
