회원님들 긴 주말 어떻게 보내고 계신가요? 저는 오늘 칠리왁에 위치한 컬터스 레이트 워터파크에 오픈런으로 다녀왔습니다.

날이 너무 덥지도 않고 딱 정말 물놀이 하기 좋았답니다.

 물과 관련된 필수 영어 표현 10가지

1. Make a splash  

   - Meaning: To attract a lot of attention or to be very successful.  

   -  큰 주목을 받다, 매우 성공하다.

   - Example: You really made a splash with that dive!  

     네 다이빙 정말 눈에 띄었어!

2. In hot water  

   - Meaning: In trouble or in a difficult situation.  

   -  곤경에 처하다.

   - Example: If you don't follow the rules, you'll be in hot water with the lifeguard.  

     규칙을 지키지 않으면, 구명요원한테 혼날 거야.

3. Go with the flow 

   - Meaning: To accept a situation and not try to change it. 

   -  상황을 받아들이고 거기에 따르다.

   - Example: Just go with the flow and enjoy the lazy river.  

     그냥 편하게 유수풀을 즐겨.

4. Get your feet wet 

   - Meaning: To start something new, especially something you’re unfamiliar with.  

   -  새로운 것을 시작하다, 특히 익숙하지 않은 것에 도전하다.

   - Example: It’s your first time here, so get your feet wet with the smaller slides.  

     여기 처음이니까 작은 슬라이드부터 타봐.

5. Throw in the towel 

   - Meaning: To give up or quit.  

   -  포기하다.

   - Example: I’m exhausted, I’m ready to throw in the towel for today.  

     나 완전 지쳤어, 오늘은 여기까지 할래.

6. Sink or swim  

   - Meaning: To fail or succeed by your own efforts.  

   -  스스로의 노력으로 성공하거나 실패하다.

   - Example: It’s a big slide, but it's sink or swim—you can do it! 

     큰 슬라이드야, 하지만 도전해봐—넌 할 수 있어!

7. Water under the bridge 

   - Meaning: Something that has happened and can’t be changed, so it’s not worth worrying about.  

   -  이미 지나간 일, 걱정해도 소용없는 일.

   - Example: You missed the wave pool, but that’s water under the bridge—let’s try the slides.  

     웨이브 풀 놓쳤지만, 이미 지난 일이야—슬라이드 타러 가자.

8. Diving in headfirst 

   - Meaning: To start something enthusiastically without hesitating. 

   -  망설임 없이 열정적으로 시작하다.

   - Example: You’re diving in headfirst by trying the tallest slide first!  

     가장 높은 슬라이드부터 도전하다니, 정말 대단해!

9. Blow off steam  

   - Meaning: To release pent-up energy or emotions.  

   -  쌓인 스트레스나 감정을 풀다.

   - Example: After a long week, I needed to blow off some steam at the water park.  

     긴 한 주 끝에, 워터파크에서 스트레스를 풀 필요가 있었어.

10. Catch some rays 

    - Meaning: To sunbathe or spend time in the sun.  

    -  일광욕을 하다, 햇볕을 쬐다.

    - Example: Let’s catch some rays before we head back to the pool.  

      수영장으로 돌아가기 전에 햇볕 좀 쬐자.
