I've never been to Paris. But this song makes me want to go there.....
In April. ^^. Well... April is long ways off. So is Paris. But
I am going to let the warmth of this song wash over me.

April In Paris
Words & Music
by E. Y. Harburg & Vernon Duke, 1932
Recorded by Ella Fitzgerald, 1956
April in Paris, chestnuts in blossom,
Holiday tables under the trees.
April in Paris, this is a feeling
No one can ever reprise.
I never knew the charm of spring,
Never met it face to face;
I never knew my heart could sing,
Never missed a warm embrace
Till April in Paris. Whom can I run to?
What have you done to my heart?
첫댓글 Hi Ken, Neither have I been to Paris. Hopely someday soon I like to visit there if I have a chance... , mmm....sweet song and beautiful picture..Thanks!
Hi Smiley. At this time I would settle for Las Vegas in November... but it is not in the cards, as they say. ^^ Take care.
Hi Ken, do you mean that you're gonna move to Vegas soon?..If it is, that sounds terrific. But i'm not sure what the meaning of "cards"is...Does it sort of contract between you and your company?
Hmmm. Nice. I wish i were there. Although I lived in London, England for a while, never had a chance to visit Paris. What a shame. Hopely some time later, I'll have a chance.
Smiley. I was simply making a poor joke. The phrase "settle for" means to compromise. What I meant to say was that if I cannot go see April in Paris, I would be content with simply being in Las Vegas in November..
And the phrase "not in the cards" makes a reference to a poker game, and it means that it was not meant to (or fated to) happen, and I have no such luck... So What I meant to say was that being in Las Vegas in November is not likely to happen anyway...^^ Sorry. I think I just made a mess of ...
my sentences.
hhh, poor smiley.... Ken, I didn't read the liric carefully so I couldn't catch what you meant...sorry about this. Because you're very fluent in English I thought there's some other meaning in "cards" that I don't know. :) Thanks for your kind explanation!!
This is beautiful picture and beautiful music, it just goes so well together.... especially this time of the year. Hmmmm, reminds me of those back streets covered with color changed leaves tossing around... Thanks,,, Ken.
