[틈틈이 영어공부] Believe it or not it's true.

- 영한 : 믿거나 말거나, 믿기 힘들겠지만 (정말이야).

- 영영 : Used to say that something is true even though it seems surprising or unlikely.

- 설명 : 단순히 "믿어라"라고 강요하는 게 아니라, "나도 이게 황당하게 들릴 거라는 건 알지만, 사실이야"라는 심리가 깔려 있으며, 대화의 서두에 "너 이거 들으면 깜짝 놀랄걸?" 하고 분위기를 잡을 때 씁니다.

- 비슷하거나 동일한 표현
ⓐWhether you believe it or not : "Believe it or not"의 좀 더 격식 있고 긴 형태입니다.
ⓑTruth be told : "사실을 말하자면" (솔직하게 무언가를 고백할 때).
