학생 시절 뮤지컬에 출연했다는 기사를 읽고, 실제 연습 영상을 보면서 문득 그런 생각을 했습니다. 싱어게인 무대에서 보였던 도라도의 얼굴 표정 하나, 몸짓 하나에도 그 시절 뮤지컬 연기의 경험과 감각이 고스란히 녹아 있었겠구나 하고요.
그래서 저는 도라도를 단순히 가창력이 뛰어난 가수가 아니라, 노래를 연기할 줄 아는 가수, 다시 말해 감정을 무대 위에서 살아 움직이게 만드는 아티스트라고 느끼게 되었습니다. 아마 도라지아 분들도 비슷한 마음이었을 것이라 생각합니다.
그러다 보니 자연스럽게 도라도가 한국의 무대를 넘어, 언젠가 브로드웨이의 뮤지컬 무대에 서는 모습까지 상상하게 됩니다. 또 한편으로는, 마돈나가 에비타를 통해 보여주었던 음악적 성취, 그리고 레이디 가가가 스타 이즈 본에서 보여주었던 그런 깊이 있는 존재감도 떠올리게 됩니다. 언젠가는 도라도가 아카데미 주제가상을 받는 장면까지 상상해보게 되고요.
물론 그 길에 이르기 위해서는 먼저 한국 대중음악 시장 안에서 확고하고 단단한 위치를 만들어가야 하겠지요. 그리고 그 토대 위에서, 단순히 노래를 잘하는 가수가 아니라 노래와 연기를 함께 품은 진정한 아티스트로 세상에 인정받게 될 것이라 믿습니다.
Reading the article about Dorado performing in musicals as a student, and then watching the actual rehearsal footage, made me think of something very clearly. Every facial expression and every gesture we saw on the Sing Again stage must have been deeply rooted in that early experience in musical theater.
That is why I came to feel that Dorado is not simply a singer with outstanding vocal ability, but an artist who truly knows how to act through song — someone who brings emotion to life on stage. I believe many of us in Dorazia have probably felt the same way.
And naturally, that leads me to imagine Dorado going beyond the Korean stage and one day standing on a Broadway musical stage. At the same time, I also find myself imagining the kind of artistic achievement Madonna showed in Evita, or the kind of presence Lady Gaga brought to A Star Is Born. Sometimes I even imagine Dorado one day receiving the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
Of course, before reaching that point, Dorado would first need to establish a strong and unshakable place in the Korean pop music scene. And once that foundation is firmly built, I truly believe Dorado can be recognized by the world not merely as a singer, but as a genuine artist — one who excels not only in singing, but also in performance and expression.
If that day comes, Dorado’s artistic value and brand will rise tremendously.
