<p>A federal judge is preventing the Trump administration from drastically cutting medical research funding.</p><p>The new National Institutes of Health policy would strip research groups of hundreds of millions of dollars to cover so-called indirect expenses of studying Alzheimer's, cancer, heart disease, and other illnesses.</p><p>Meanwhile, the Center of Disease Control and Prevention says about 180 employees who were laid off two weeks ago can come back to work.</p><p>Emails with the subject line "Read this email imediately", went out to some probationary employees who got termination notices last month.</p><p>It said that a February 15 termination notice had been rescinded.</p><p>Haya Panjwani, Washington.</p><p>   </p>
