Date: 2006.12.13   Read: Luke 12:13-21   Money Talks The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness. -1 Timothy 6:10 As I was driving home from the office, I saw a minivan proudly displaying a bumper sticker that "Money Talks: Mine Says Goodbye." I think a lot of people can relate to that sentiment. Much of our living is spent acquiring and using money, which doesn't last. The stock market crashes. Prices go up. Thieves steal others' goods. Things wear out and break down, requiring the acquisition and expenditure of more money to replace what has been lost. The temporary nature of material wealth makes it a poor bargain in the search for security in an insecure world. Money is much better at saying goodbye than it is at sticking around. Nowhere does the Bible say it's wrong to have money or the things that money can buy. Where we lose our way is when money becomes the driving purpose of our lives. Like the rich man and his barns (Luke 12:13-21), we end up pursuing the accumulation of things that eventually will be forfeited?if not in life, then certainly at death. How tragic to live our entire lives, only to end them with nothing of eternal worth to show for our labors. Moths can corrupt them, rust can decay; All their bright beauty fades in a day. -Nicholson	날짜: 2006.12.13   말씀: 누가복음 12:13-21  돈이 전하는 말 돈을 사랑함이 일만 악의 뿌리가 되나니 이것을 사모하는 자들이 미혹을 받아 믿음에서 떠나 많은 근심으로써 자기를 찔렀도다-디모데전서 6:10 퇴근길, 한 미니 밴의 범퍼에 자랑스럽게 "돈이 말한다: 나더러 잘 있으라고." 라고 쓰인 스티커가 붙어 있는 것을 본 적이 있습니다. 나는 많은 사람들이 이 말에 공감하리라 생각합니다. 우리들은 영원하지 않은 돈을 벌고 쓰는데 삶의 많은 부분을 소비합니다. 증권 시장은 붕괴하고, 물가는 오르며, 도둑들은 다른 사람들의 물건을 훔칩니다. 물건들은 낡고 망가지게 마련이라 이런 것들을 새로 사고 잃어버린 것을 대체하는 데에 많은 돈이 필요합니다. 물질적인 부의 덧없는 속성은 불안한 세상에서 안전을 추구하려는 우리의 노력을 헛되게 만듭니다. 돈은 우리를 떠나려고 하지 우리에게 머물러 있으려 하지 않습니다. 성경 어디에도 돈을 갖는 것이나 돈으로 살 수 있는 물건을 갖는 것이 나쁘다는 말은 없습니다. 그러나 돈이 우리의 삶을 이끄는 목적이 되어버릴 때 우리는 길을 잃어버리고 맙니다. 우리는 마치 어느 부자와 곡간 이야기 (눅 12:13-21)처럼 우리가 사는 동안에, 아니면 죽을 때에 결국 잃어버리고 말 그런 것들을 쌓아두는데 힘을 다하다가 끝나게 되고 말 것입니다. 우리의 수고로 얻은 것이 아무런 영원한 가치도 없는 것으로 결말이 난다면 우리의 삶은 얼마나 비극적이겠습니까. 예수님의 비유에서처럼, 영원할 수 없는 재물을 향한 수고보다 하나님을 향한 풍요로움이 훨씬 더 좋습니다 (21절). 이 땅의 물질을 가볍게 여기도록 하소서 덧없는 재물, 무슨 쓸모가 있을까? 좀은 재물을 갉아먹고, 녹은 재물을 부패시키며 밝고 아름다운 모든 것들도 하루 만에 시들고 마는데
