M: Good evening. You're reached the Cafe St. Moritz. This is Henri speaking. How may I help you tonight?
W: I have a reservation at 8;30 for a party of 2 under the name Palmerston. I'm running late and would like to move it to 8:45 if possible. Also,, I'm not sure where you're located. Is iton Balfour Road near Elm Avenue?
M: That's it. We're between Jackson Park and the Gaslight Theater. And 8:45 is no problem.
W: OK. great. A friend mistakenly tole me you'd recently moved to Windsor Street.
[44-46]
W: I just heard from Mary that the reception for the German managers is being moved from next Thursday to the following Saturday afternoon.
M: Oh, no. My family and I are going to Niagara Falls that weekend. We've had the room booked for months and bought tickets to a number of events and shows.
W:Why don't you speak with Mr. Martin about it?
He's usually pretty understanding about this sort of thing.
M: Yes, but I'm supposed to make the announcement about our European expansion plans at the reception. I have a long speech to give and I'm the only one who knows the details.
[47-49]
W:On Soccer Watch last night, they predicted that the Swashbucklers would win the soccer league championship this year and the Royals would come in second.
M: I don't think so. The season is half over, and the Swashbucklers are in fifth place with a pretty unimpressive record. The Sharks don't show any sign of giving up their lead in the league.
W: That's true, and with both Andre Pegossi and Sven Jorrick injured, they don't have any strong players left on the team.
M: Well, they did just make that trade with the Eagles to get Ivan Rostoprov. He's done very well in the past, but I doubt that will be of much help.
[50-52]
M: Excuse me, would it be possible to choose my seat on the plane?
W: Yes, of course, sir. Would you prefer a seat by the aisle or one by the window?
M: I think an aisle seat would be best. Do you have anything towards the front fo the plane too? I don't like to sit too far in the back.
W: The closest aisle seat we have to the front is in row 56. There are two open seats in rows 34 and 35, but they're both by windows.
[53-55]
W: They have the nicest furniture designs I've seen anywhere in the city, but the prices are outlandishly high.
M: It's not just because of the designs. The quality of the materials and the craftsmanship are really excellent. It not only looks good but will last forever, so it's actually reasonable.
W: I like it better than anything else we've seen, but unless the prices comes down I don't think we can afford it.
M: I think they may be having a sale sometime soon. Why don't we wait to see if the price goes down?
[56-58]
M: How are things going with the new house?
W: Great. The house is wonderful. There's so much space, and it gets a lot of natural light during the day. The only thing that's difficult is maintaining the garden. I didn't realize how much work it would be.
M: That's true. Tending to a garden is a big task. Maybe you should hire a landscaper or a gardener to help you.
W: I was thinking about doing that, but I don't think it's possible right now. buying the house was such a big purchase, and hiring someone might be expensive.
[59-61]
M: Do you have any idea where the phone number for the air conditioner repairman is I thought it was on the refrigerator door, but it isn't there, and I can't find the phone book.
W: It's in the drawer to the right of the cabinet. What's wrong with the air conditioner? I thought it was working well.
M: Not really. It needs a cleaning, and I have a feeling the thermostat isn't working right.
W: I guess that's why it doesn't shut off automatically like it used to when the room got cold. You know, if service is still covered by the warranty, we may not have to pay for the repairs. Why don't you check?
[62-64]
M: Lunch was just delivered. Who ordered the hamburger with fries?
W: That must be Jeff. He's still in a meeting, but I'm going over to marketing now, so I'll put it on his de나.
M: Wait. If you're headed towards the marketing department ,could you bring Denise hers too? She ordered tuna salad sandwich, but they were all out, so I got her a tossed salad instead. I remember she mentioned she liked the salads at Logos a lot.
W: Yes, I think she does. Terry's also in marketing right now. I'll bring his lunch over too.
[65-67]
W: I need to meet with Mr. Harris at 5 today, but that means I'll miss the faculty enrichment seminar. It's supposed to be about the management training program.
M: Well, it's optional, but if you're really interested in it, I could take notes and pick up whatever pamphlets are available for you.
W: Thanks. I'd really appreciate it.
M: where's your meeting with Mr. Harris? Maybe I can drop off the information on my way home from the meeting so you can look at it over the weekend.
[68-70]
W: You missed the benefit concert last night, Ben. The orchestra was great, and the crowd really enjoyed themselves. Best of all, they raised over half a million dollars for the homeless shelter.
M: That's great. I'm really sorry I missed it but my daughter was sic, so I had to stay home.
W: That's too bad. I hope she's feeling better.
M; She is She must've caught a cold from one of her classmates. She's been absent from school for two days, but she should be well enough to go back tomorrow.

We're sorry to inform you that one of our projectors is broken and cannot be repaired this evening. Therefore we're unable to show your feature film as it would normally be seen. Movies consist of several reels of film and require two projectors, so one can be loaded with the next reel as the first one runs. Without a second projector we have to unload one reel and then load the next reel. This can take upwards of 10 minutes between each reel and tonight's feature has 4 reels. We appreciate that this is not how a film is meant to be seen so for those of you who do not wish to view the movie under these circumstances, you may leave now and receive a full refund for your ticket. For those who don't want to miss the film and wish to stay, we'd like to offer you free soft drinks with your purchase of popcorn or other snacks. We'll begin running the film in 15 minutes. Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
[77-79]
Hello Helen. It's me, Fred. I suppose you either haven't got home from your office yet or you got home and went shopping I'm afraid I'm still in a meeting at a client's office and will probably be here a bit longer. There are a few thing s I need before we go to the Johnson's party later though. Perhaps you could take care fo them for me. First, my suit needs to be picked up at the cleaners. The ticket is in the hall table drawer. Also, I wanted to get a copy of that DVD for the Johnsons, so maybe you could pick one up. On second thought, there's a video store right near here, so I can get it myself.
[80-82]
Tonight, on behalf of the town environmental committee, I'd like to talk about recycling garbage. I realize it's not an exciting or exotic topic, but it's a significant one. To begin, let's consider something that might help make it clear just how important recycling is. We make trash and we make a lot of it. Every year we, you and I and all our fellow citizens, produce in excess of 150 million tons of household garbage. That number represents enough metal to build over two million automobiles, enough wooed to build over a million homes, enough paper to print all the daily newspapers in the country. It's enough trash to fill 11 million garbage trucks. Impressive numbers aren't they? Well here's a number that's even more impressive: 90 percent. What's 90 percent? That's the amount of trash we create that could be recycled.
[83-85]
AS you know, you'll each receive your training assignments at the end of the day and tomorrow you'll begin your individual jobs under the direction of your department suerpvisors. Before that, as is customary with all new employees, we'll take you through the entire plant. We'll point out and briefly explain every part of the manufacturing process, which foreman is in charge of it, and how it relates to the other aspects of the company's business. By doing this, you'll get a better appreciation of how your particular job fits into the bigger picture. In a large company, it's easy to feel lost and not understand your personal role We'll start at the beginning in the receiving department, where the raw materials we use come into the plant, and we'll finish at the loading docks of shipping.
[86-88]

Good evening. First, I'd like to thank the board of the International Association of Travel Professionals for inviting me to speak on the growing importance of the Internet in travel and tourism marketing. For anyone who might doubt that importance, consider the following three facts. One': over the past 9 years, online travel sales have increased at an average rate of 172 percent a year: two : in any given year, over 70 percent of INternet users visit a travel-related site at least once; and three: travel-related Websites are the 6th most visited sites online, behind news, sports, and job searches. Your agencies, and the businesses of your clients increasingly depend on the Web, not just to establish identity and expand business, but to maintain existing client bases and remain competitive.

Let me first say I'm slightly embarrassed by all the wonderful things people have been saying about me all evening. I find it amusing that one must retire in order to hear such praise. Seriously, I couldn't feel more honored or rewarded than I am by tonight's ceremony. It's a delight to hear the people I've worked with recount some of the wonderful times we shared together. It makes me feel that I've led a very special and lucky life. To have done work that one loves and, as a bonus, to have done ti with people one admires and respects, is surely everything one could ask for from a career. I'm a fortunate man and I thank you all sincerely, not just for tonight's festivities, but for the past twenty-five years.

Hello, Ms. Davis. This is Charlotte Turner from human resources at Leacock and Company. I wanted to let you know that I, along with the art department chief, two account executives, and the director of print advertising, have reviewed your resume and the sample materials you left with us, and we're very impressed. Rather than disucuss the graphic artist position you were interested in, we'd like to propose something more challenging and better suited to your talents. Please call me back if you'd be interested in meeting with us once again to discuss this matter at length.
