Figwort is a perennial plant, growing 2 to 4 feet high in rich woodlands and thickets from Maine to Georgia and Tennessee, and west to South Dakota and Kansas. The knobby rootstock is brown outside, whitish and fibrous inside. The erect, quadrangular, glabrous stem bears opposite, ovate to lanceolate, serrate leaves with an offensive odor. Small, glogular, dark purple flowers appear in terminal panicles from June to October.

Diuretic, exanthematous. Figwort is essentially a skin medication used for eczema, scabies, scurf, tumors, rashes, etc. It can also be made into an ointment or fomentation for use on scratches bruises, and minor wounds. 
5 사용법
- 우리기; 1컵의 물에 1티스푼
. 하루 1-2컵 음용
-  팅크; 1/2-1 티스푼 
. 음용하거나 외용
Infusion; Use 1 heaping tsp. of the plant with 1 cup water. Take 1 to 2 cups a day.
Tincture; Take 1/2 to 1 tsp. at a time. Also may be used externally.
