When the schedule of the second day started, the sky was clear and blue. The multicultural families merrily went to Yongmun Temple, where they saw a-1,100 year-old ginkgo tree.
Three kinds of new experiences
And then they arrived at an activity place to experience something special. There, three programs were provided. The first order was to make what was called ‘Gaedduk’. The participants created various shapes such as hearts and rabbits, with their smiling faces covered with dough.
The second order was to make pure Topu of beans grinded by double-folded stones that originated from the West Asia via the middle Asia, with adding salty water unlike hand-made ingredients that people usually use to make Topu. When it was made in large-sized pots, the participants, in particular, the children and toddlers enjoyed eating pure Topu.
The last order was to dye cotton with various leaves. The dying process was really interesting to them. They folded the cotton into the half and on the half side, put leaves on the cotton in a different position, and then folded again and hit the leaves with spoons. At the same time, too many people hit leaves on the table, which made sounds like those of drums. It was funny for some, but noisy for others. Those who have infants went outside not to wake up them and relax themselves.
After the whole programs were finished, they divided into four groups and said good-bye to each other before getting on the four buses. They hugged and blessed each other and left the place with good memory of the short trip.
During the trip, all of the participants enjoyed joining the programs such as making pure Topu or dying that were special experiences for the children and even adults.
Yunje Choi, Deputy of Gyeonggi Tourism Organization said that the 7th Inoori trip might be held at Ilwon, Gyeonggi-do while in providing historic and cultural experiences, adding that she expects more multicultural families to join the event, through which children will experience and feel a vareity of things and they will make a good family reminiscence together, as well.
The multicultural families joining the programs
Myeonghee Jeon, the childcare instructor from the multiculture center in Seongnam, said that 30 percents of the multicultural families positively use and benefit from the multicultural centers or national institutions, 40 percents are not positive so that they sometimes use the centers, and other 30 percents just stay home without any outdoor activities.
She said that the benefits don’t fairly reach out to the multicultural families so the problems should be dealt with at the regional and national levels.
Do you have a story?
During the short trip, various life stories of multicultural families were heard. Salad TV listened to their stories.
1. About Ger
Songdo Yoon and NaranHuu from Mongol with two children met as an acquaintance served as a matchmaker. He talked about his experience in staying the Ger, a traditional house in Mongol. He stayed with other men in the Ger at night in summer. It was so cold that they made a fire but it burnt out very quickly.
Suddenly, wolves’ sounds were getting louder and louder. The Ger seemed too weak to protect them from wolves. He feared the wild animals would stay up all night. Nothing happened but it was an awful memory for him. But his wife, Naranhuu said, "For a wolf to tear up the tent is you thought, and a wolf never thinks like that." As soon as her remarks finished, he said, “How do you know his thought? Are you a wolf?”
2. Matrimonial Fraud
Younghun Kim and Muyleng Huot, a Cambodian, met through an intermarriage agency. He was crash and burn on the ground of his stock falling. When he felt that he was almost nothing, he accepted a suggestion from a Vietnamese acquaintance that he should marry a foreign woman.
But it was a matrimonial fraud. The Vietnamese woman suddenly disappeared after marriage. He was really infuriated at the moment and tried to find the woman. When he found a factory where she illegally worked, she could easily disappear with the help of her co-workers. So he gave her up soon and got divorced from her in a legal procedure.
Now he has a smart and cute wife from Cambodia who was the then interpreter working at a Chinese company. Also he has a cute 8-month-old son whose name is Jinsung Kim. He is leading a happy life with his family everyday, respecting each other.
Some say that the age gap does matter, but he said that it doesn’t matter for him and his wife. Under the name of husband and wife, they treat each other in a fair way.
3. Foreign wife

She tries to do her best when she did the housework, but her mother-in-law thinks it’s not enough and complains about her doing. He loves his wife so much that her sadness makes him feel sorry. He also has a difficulty in understanding his parents.
But after their baby was born, his mother little by little changed. She complains less than before. She opens the baby’s room and sees her granddaughter everyday. He wishes that his parents will understand and love his wife.
4. Foreign wife and mother-in-law
Hososebi, a Cambodian intermarriage woman, came to the Inoori trip with her mother-in-law, Duksa Seo. They were very praised for their good relations with each other by the participants. Hososebi with a-100 day-baby lives in Seongnam with her family.
Her husband and mother-in-law love her very much. Despite opposition from the relatives, Mrs. Seo embraced her foreign daughter-in-law with deep understanding and love and then nobody showed opposition against her.
