Summary:
After Jesus’ death, Joseph of Arimathea, a secret disciple of Jesus, asks Pilate for His body. Pilate grants permission, and Joseph takes the body. Nicodemus also comes, bringing a large amount of myrrh and aloes. Together, they wrap Jesus’ body in linen with spices, following Jewish burial customs. They place Him in a new tomb in a garden near the crucifixion site, as it was the Jewish day of preparation and the tomb was nearby.
Teaching:
We must become people of Jesus—those who meet Him through His death, resurrection, and second coming, and who carry out His work. Just as Joseph and Nicodemus, who had hidden themselves, revealed their faith and took care of Jesus’ burial after His death, we too must cast off all shame and openly express our faith through our words and actions. We should be people who uphold the church and care for fellow holy people of God.
