독후감-Sherlock Holmes and The Duke’s Son

2010, March 13, Saturday <Book Report> “Sherlock Holmes and The Duke’s Son” JOHN Written By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Publisher Oxford   Summary: In Sherlock Holmes’ office, one man named Huxtable came with white face and looked like ill. He said that two persons have disappeared from his school. Holmes felt very interested about this happening. So Holmes, Watson and Huxtable went to the school. The one who disappeared was Duke’s son, the Government Minister’s son and the other one was a science teacher who was a teacher in that school. They tried to find a clue for this happening and they found a footprint under the window of the science teacher’s room. So they guessed he went out through the window. Then they guessed continually. Finally Holmes found a kidnapper in an inn. He was the owner of the inn. But it was not the end. One day, Duke called Holmes and told him everything truthfully. The child who was disappeared was not real Duke’s son. The real son was James who was a young secretary beside him because he loved James very much so he couldn’t separate from him. So James planned it with the owner of the inn. So this happening was concluded as one’s own making.   Impression: I think to be truthful is an important thing in our lives. Even though the lying is for good thing like Hong Gil-Dong, it is actually lying. Lying is to deceive others and if you do it habitually, someday you would say all lying to others. So we should be truthful all the time. In this book, Duke lain to Holmes so Holmes did unbeneficial thing because it was just one’s own making. I will always try to be honest so that I would be trustworthy for others.
