In April 7. 2004, The WHO announced that the rate of death by traffic accidents in korea hold the 6th rank. 75 countries throughout the world had some data related with traffic accidents The World Health Organization and the World Bank reported the death of world by traffic accidents. According to this report, korean death rate by traffic accidents was 22.7 persons per 100,000 and hold jointly the 6th rank with Venezuela in South America.     When we regard korean economic standard(level), the rate reaches very high and this is the disgrace to our nation.   Mauritius, the eastern Island country, ranked first place. And the 2nd position was occupied El Salvador in South America, 3rd position, the Dominican Republic and Latvia took the 4th place. Most of these countries are lower than Korea in the economic levels, but hold prior positions in death rate. Taiwan is same asian country and similar to us in economic level but they hold the 11th.   In case of actual number of the dead, not rate, United States ranked top as largest number of the dead as they hold the highest rate of automobile spreaded in the world. 44,000 Americans died by the automobile accidents. There are many people who were killed by the traffic accidents in America but the rate is only 15 persons per 100,000. It was recorded on the very low level in that report. All over the world, 1,200,000 people have been killed and 50,000,000 have got injured every year by the traffic accidents. These traffic accidents incur the loss of 518,000,000,000 dollars every year. And WHO prospected the loss by traffic accidents would be expanded almost 65% by 2020.   Some of you may know, as same as last year, I got a traffic accident in front of 자대 gate. At that time, I was so busy, because I was late for this club class. Some cars stoped in a row because signal lamp turned red but no car in the opposite lane. So I jaywalked. But I didn't know whether a car was coming to me. When I saw the car, then I thought '18~!!, I become a bird(鳥.)~!'. The road was declined and the model of the car was 'Sorento'. As you know, that model is bigger than normal vehicles. So when the 'Sorento' bumped to me, I flew over 2 meters. I got hurt in my back and mental damages. Sometimes I suffer from the backache. And when a car stopped suddenly, it made some noise, then I was frightened to death. But I thought I was lucky at that time. It was a happy feature of a misfortune. Almost died but  didn't. But if I was careful and took the crosswalk, the accident might not occur. Once in a while, I can hear a news that someone has died by a traffic accident from my friends or family. And these news always appear on TV every day. Even though I don't know well about him/her, it makes my heart hurted to hear the bad news. Besides, if he/she is a child, I'm getting sadder. I'm afraid of the death rate of children forms 77% among the whole death rate by traffic accidents.
