Summary:
Jesus tells Pilate that any authority he has comes from above, and those who delivered Jesus are more guilty. Pilate tries to release Jesus, but the Jews insist, saying anyone claiming to be a king opposes Caesar. Pilate presents Jesus to the crowd, who shout for His crucifixion. Reluctantly, Pilate hands Jesus over to be crucified. Jesus carries His cross to Golgotha, where He is crucified with two others.
Teaching:
Mary gave her entire wealth and life to follow and serve Jesus. Even after witnessing Jesus die helplessly on the cross and be buried in the tomb, she did not leave. She considered even His dead body precious and continued to seek Him.
Mary Magdalene saw angels at the empty tomb and saw Jesus Himself. While the disciples had not yet seen Him, Mary Magdalene did. She went to the disciples and told them she had seen Jesus and that He had risen. She also delivered the message Jesus told her to share — that He was ascending to heaven.
Thus, Mary Magdalene became the first messenger of the resurrection.
