<p><b>Summary:</b></p><p>Paul begins by thanking God for the Roman believers, whose faith is known throughout the world. He expresses his constant prayers for them and his desire to visit them to encourage and be encouraged mutually through their shared faith. Paul feels a strong obligation to preach the gospel to all people—Greeks and non-Greeks, wise and foolish alike—and is eager to do so in Rome.</p><p>He declares that he is not ashamed of the gospel, as it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the Greek. The gospel reveals God's righteousness, which comes by faith and leads to faith, as Scripture says, "But the righteous one will live by faith."</p><p> </p><p><b>Teaching:</b></p><p>We are saved through words and confessions that come from faith. The definition of the gospel is that Jesus is the Son of God.</p><p>What Paul does is proclaim this gospel — he proclaims the name of Jesus Christ.</p><p> </p><p>In this gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed through Jesus Christ. Jesus is the manifestation of God’s righteousness.</p><p>The death and resurrection of Christ are revealed in the gospel. The event that showed God’s righteousness to us is Jesus’s death and resurrection.
