The Fifth Dimension

흑인 혼성 보컬 그룹 The Fifth Dimension는
로스앤젤레스에서 1965년 여성 2명 남성 3명으로 결성되어,

히피 문화가 만개하던 1966년, Soul City

레이블과 계약을 체결함으로써
본격적인 음악 캐리어를 쌓았으며,

1960년대 말처럼 혼란스럽고 어두웠던 시기에도
이 5인조 그룹은 낙천적이고 희망적인 노래를 불렀다.

1969년에 발표한 싱글 'Aquarius /Let the sunshine in'은
빌보드 싱글 차트에서 72주 동안 차트에 머물며

최초로 정상을 차지한 메들리 곡이란 기록을 보유하고 있다.

이 곡은 ‘Aquarius’란 곡과 ‘Let the Sunshine in’ 두 곡이
자연스럽게 이어져 있다.
"Forrest Gump" (1994)의 삽입곡으로 쓰이기도 했다.

Aquarius는 하늘의 별자리 중에서

"물병자리"를 말하고,
사랑과 평화를 의미 합니다.
