이사야9장 말씀입니다.

[사랑하는 나의 가족]

1. 그러할지라도 그 흑암은 그 땅이 괴로움을 당하던 때의 흑암과 같지 아니하리니 그때에는 그분께서 처음에 스불론

    땅과 납달리 땅을 가볍게 괴롭히시고 나중에 요르단 건너편 바닷길 옆 민족들이 거하는 갈릴리에 있는 그 땅을 더욱

    심하게 괴롭히셨느니라.

Nevertheless the dimness [shall] not [be] such as [was] in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict [her by] the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations. 

2. 어둠 속에 다니던 백성이 큰 빛을 보았고 사망의 그늘진 땅에 거하는 자들 곧 그들에게 빛이 비치었도다.

The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

3. 주께서 민족을 번성하게 하시되 기쁨을 더하지는 아니하셨으나 그들이 수확 때에 기뻐하며 사람들이 노략한 물건을

    나눌 때에 기뻐하는 것 같이 주 앞에서 기뻐하오니

Thou hast multiplied the nation, [and] not increased the joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, [and] as [men] rejoice when they divide the spoil. 

4. 주께서 미디안의 날에 행하신 것 같이 그의 짐을 멘 멍에와 그의 어깨의 지팡이와 그를 학대하는 자의 막대기를

    꺾으셨나이다.

For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian. 

5. 용사의 모든 싸움에는 어지러운 소리와 피에 젖은 옷이 있으나 이 싸움에는 불을 지피는 땔감과 불사르는 일이

    있으리라.

For every battle of the warrior [is] with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but [this] shall be with burning [and] fuel of fire. 

6. 이는 한 아이가 우리에게 태어났고 한 아들을 우리에게 주셨는데 그의 어깨에는 정권이 놓이고 그의 이름은

    [놀라우신 이], [조언자], 강하신 [하나님], 영존하는 [아버지], [평화의 통치자]라 할 것이기 때문이라.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

7. 그의 정권과 화평이 번창하여 끝이 없으며 그가 다윗의 왕좌와 그의 왕국 위에 군림하여 그것을 정비하고

    이제로부터 영원토록 공의와 정의로 그것을 굳게 세우리라. 만군의 {주}의 열심이 이것을 이루리라.

Of the increase of [his] government and peace [there shall be] no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

8. [주]께서 야곱에게 말씀을 보내시매 그것이 이스라엘 위에 임하였으므로

The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.

9. 모든 백성이 알 것이요, 에브라임과 사마리아 거주민도 알 것이거늘 그들이 교만하고 완악한 마음으로 말하기를,

And all the people shall know, [even] Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,

10. 벽돌이 무너졌으나 우리는 다듬은 돌로 쌓고 뽕나무들이 찍혔으나 우리는 백향목들로 그것들을 대체하리라,

      하는도다.

The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change [them into] cedars.

11. 그러므로 {주}께서 르신의 대적들을 일으켜 그를 치게 하시며 그의 원수들을 함께 합치시리니

Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together; 

12. 앞에는 시리아 사람들이요, 뒤에는 블레셋 사람들이라. 그들이 입을 벌려 이스라엘을 삼키리라. 이 모든 것에도

      불구하고 그분의 분노는 돌아서지 아니하며 그분의 손은 여전히 펼쳐져 있느니라.

The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand [is] stretched out still. 

13. 백성이 자기를 치는 이에게로 돌아오지 아니하며 만군의 {주}를 찾지 아니하는도다.

For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.

14. 그러므로 {주}께서 하루 사이에 이스라엘로부터 머리와 꼬리와 가지와 골풀을 끊으실 터인데

Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.

15. 나이 들고 존귀한 자는 그 머리요, 거짓말을 가르치는 대언자는 그 꼬리니라.

The ancient and honourable, he [is] the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he [is] the tail.

16. 이 백성의 지도자들이 그들로 하여금 잘못하게 하므로 그들의 인도를 받는 자들이 멸망을 당하였도다.

For the leaders of this people cause [them] to err; and [they that are] led of them [are] destroyed. 

17. 그러므로 [주]께서 그들의 젊은이들을 기뻐하지 아니하시며 그들 중의 아버지 없는 자들과 과부들에게 긍휼을

     베풀지 아니하시리니 이는 모든 사람이 위선을 행하는 자요, 악을 행하는 자이기 때문이며 또 모든 입이 어리석음을

     말하기 때문이라. 이 모든 것에도 불구하고 그분의 분노는 돌아서지 아니하며 그분의 손은 여전히 펼쳐져 있느니라.

Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one [is] an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand [is] stretched out still. 

18. 사악함이 불같이 타올라 찔레와 가시를 삼키고 빽빽한 숲에 불을 붙이매 그것들이 연기가 올라가는 것 같이

      올라가리라.

For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up [like] the lifting up of smoke.

19. 만군의 {주}의 진노로 말미암아 그 땅이 어두워지며 그 백성은 불을 지피는 땔감같이 되리니 아무도 자기 형제를

      아끼지 아니하리라.

Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother. 

20. 그가 오른손으로 움켜쥘지라도 주릴 것이요, 왼손으로 먹을지라도 배부르지 아니하리라. 그들이 각각 자기 팔의

      살을 먹으리니

And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm: 

21. 므낫세는 에브라임을, 에브라임은 므낫세를 먹을 것이요, 또 그들이 함께 유다를 치리라. 이 모든 것에도 불구하고

      그분의 분노는 돌아서지 아니하며 그분의 손은 여전히 펼쳐져 있느니라.

Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: [and] they together [shall be] against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand [is] stretched out still.
