Through the content of the post above, I would like to explain "Real Change and Enduring Change" in three parts as follows.
Part - 1
■ Real Change and Enduring Change
The phrase "Real Change, Enduring Change, Happens One Step at a time!!" emphasizes that significant and lasting change occurs gradually, one step at a time, rather than all at once. It underscores the importance of progressing slowly but steadily towards a larger goal.
Through this article, I would like to share my thoughts on "the importance of selecting the right leaders for my self-development in training through thinking out of the box," not only with practitioners of Haedong Kumdo but also with martial artists worldwide.

Especially after the USA seminar in April 2024, I feel compelled to say this to many dedicated practitioners who have trained in Haedong Kumdo for over a decade, some for almost twenty years in the USA. While individual perspectives may vary, I wish to share my own thoughts.
Now, through the Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu Haedong Kumdo, I aim to provide those who have been training in Haedong Kumdo with an opportunity to transform themselves by mastering the fundamentals of martial arts: techniques, philosophy, and healing.
As history has shown us, generations who enjoyed wealth and honor through established powers seldom desire new paradigms.
They cling to the existing system until the end.
The true agents of constant innovation and development, the owners of Haedong Kumdo, are the practitioners who love it worldwide. I intend to stand with them until the end.
Having been a practitioner of Haedong Kumdo for a long time myself, continuing to learn, teach, and strive for my personal development, I understand that no matter how skilled or accomplished one as a founder or senior leaders may be, without visibility and compatibility, martial arts become futile, and even no more practice as aging, it perishes, as we know it well.
Just as kimchi needs proper fermentation and cheese requires adequate aging, human enlightenment also requires changing 100 % perfectly for getting out of the existing patterns. Then it starts again.
"Real Change" occurs when thoughts are transformed and actions are taken, leading to personal growth and maturity.
This is the essence of martial arts education through Haedong Kumdo: to receive teachings akin to university education and to engage in self-realization based on those foundations, leading to a life, having "Enduring Change" and maturity.
Continuous efforts to improve oneself, guided by conscious shifts and thinking outside the box, lead to holistic development and happiness.
Those trapped in their own wells can't expect revolutionary personal growth.
Part - 2
■ The Essence of Haedong Kumdo: Skills and Philosophy, Healing.
The essence of Haedong Kumdo lies in teaching not just techniques and philosophy but also the connected healing, embodying the mission of a founder of the Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu Haedong Kumdo.
Just as the quality and depth of education differ between elementary and university levels, martial arts education, including Haedong Kumdo, varies in its depth and quality.
Martial arts must combine "the sword and the pen" to enrich life and wisdom.
The skills and philosophy imparted by the founder of a martial art require not only verbal communication but also physical embodiment to truly advance practitioners, requiring considerable time and effort.
Otherwise, practitioners may find satisfaction only in repetitive drills and forms, limited by their own consciousness.
Reflect on your current self through Haedong Kumdo.
What have you learned, excelled at, and enjoyed? Have you considered how to develop yourself further after your well-performance physically in Kumbups and Cutting, etc.?
Is your current approach conducive to achieving the ultimate goals of martial arts? Will it continue to foster your personal development?
Just as elementary and university education differ, the learning experience in Haedong Kumdo varies in quality and depth, emphasizing the importance of understanding skills, philosophy, and healing.
Merely focusing on techniques can lead to physical decline with age, resembling elementary-level training , which just follow and remember the physical things without its depth.
Therefore, the journey includes understanding the next steps beyond physical conditioning.
If a person comes into this world in a frenzy and fails to realize the essence of life, they leave this world just as aimlessly as they arrived, wandering through the fog with a confused mind until the end.
Similarly, if one doesn't understand the ultimate goal and essence of martial arts, no matter how diligently they practice throughout their lifetime, it may provide solace and comfort in itself, but in the end, they depart without clarity, lost in the illusion of having lived a fulfilling life.
So, if you enjoy and desire to stay where you are, then do so. Through martial arts practice and participation in various competitions, big and small, you can experience a sense of achievement and joy. While it's perfectly fine, it serves as solace and comfort in itself.
Receiving martial arts education equivalent to university level and evolving in reality based on those fundamentals allows for genuine and enduring change, both mentally and physically.
Yet, this realization is not the end but the beginning of continuous personal growth, maturity, and striving for perfection inherent in human life.
If your thoughts remain unchanged, you can not expect personal growth or satisfaction while remaining stagnant.
Evaluate if your martial arts instructor or mentor is guiding you toward elementary-level stagnation or further growth.
Are you content with just learning basic techniques, or do you thirst for the next level of mastery?
Continuously examine what your body and mind truly desire.
The answers lie within you,
dependent on your determination.
Part - 3
■ Requires a holistic approach for true growth in martial arts training.
Mastery in martial arts, like in academia, requires a holistic approach.
Learning from diverse sources, with each founder imparting not just techniques but philosophy, fosters true growth.
Otherwise, one risks being like a hamster on a wheel, finding satisfaction in repetitive training without deeper understanding.
The difference between elementary school teaching and university instruction is vast.
Just as the saying goes, 'It is better to be a Socrates disgruntled than a pig gruntled,' it's necessary to reflect on the fact that a life of human dissatisfaction often leads to greater happiness than contentment with the status quo.
This is because a life devoid of personal growth and maturity ultimately becomes a sandcastle."
Life without personal growth and maturity is a stagnant pond.
Examine if your current instructor is keeping you at an elementary level or guiding you towards greater heights.
Finally, make sure and keep in mind that the essence of martial arts lies in the interconnectedness of skills, philosophy, and healing, with energy flow as the foundation, essential for proper training, and understanding of Kimu-body.
