너희 목마른 자들아 물로 나아오라 돈 없는 자도 오라

"Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters;

and you who have no money,

너희는 와서 사먹되 돈 없이 값 없이 와서 포도주와 젖을 사라

come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk

without money and without cost.

너희가 어찌하여 양식 아닌 것을 위하여 은을 달아 주며

Why spend money on what is not bread,

배부르게 못할 것을 위하여 수고하느냐

and your labor on what does not satisfy?

나를 청종하라 그리하면 너희가 좋은 것을 먹을 것이며

Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,

너희 마음이 기름진 것으로 즐거움을 얻으리라

and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.

너희는 귀를 기울이고 내게 나아와 들으라

Give ear and come to me;

그리하면 너희 영혼이 살리라

hear me, that your soul may live.

내가 너희에게 영원한 언약을 세우리니

I will make an everlasting covenant with you,

Seek the LORD while he may be found;

가까이 계실 때에 그를 부르라

call on him while he is near.

악인은 그 길을,불의한 자는 그 생각을 버리고 여호와께로 돌아오라

Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts.

Let him turn to the LORD,

그리하면 그가 긍휼히 여기시리라

and he will have mercy on him,

and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

너희가 사람의 미혹을 받지 않도록 주의하라 많은 사람이 내 이름으로 와서 이르되 나는 그리스도라 하여 많은 사람을 미혹케 하리라 4-5

그 때에 사람이 너희에게 말하되 보라 그리스도가 여기 있다 혹 저기 있다 하여도 믿지 말라 거짓 그리스도들과 거짓 선지자들이 일어나 큰 표적과 기사를 보이어 할 수만 있으면 택하신 자들도 미혹하게 하리라 보라 내가 너희에게 미리 말하였노라 그러면 사람들이 너희에게 말하되 보라 그리스도가 광야에 있다 하여도 나가지 말고 보라 골방에 있다 하여도 믿지 말라 번개가 동편에서 나서 서편까지 번쩍임 같이 인자의 임함도 그러하리라 주검이 있는 곳에는 독수리들이 모일찌니라 21-28

"Then if anyone says to you, 'Behold, here is the Christ,' or 'There He is,' do not believe him. "For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect. "Behold, I have told you in advance. "So if they say to you, 'Behold, He is in the wilderness,' do not go out, or, 'Behold, He is in the inner rooms,' do not believe them. "For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes even to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be. "Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.  Matthew 24:21-28

미혹하는 거짓 그리스도 Misleading Fake Christ

현대를 살아가는 기독자들의 소망 중 하나는 주님이 다시 오시는 것일 것입니다. 본문은 이를 위해 기록되었습니다. 오늘의 말씀은 그 중에서도 특히 미혹에 빠지지 않아야 할 것에 대해 알려주고 있습니다. 많은 사람이 주님의 이름으로 왔다 하면서 이적과 기사를 보이고 심지어 택하신 자들까지 미혹케 한다 하셨습니다. 그러나 이런 자들을 따라 가지도 말라 하셨습니다.

실상 이전 말씀에서 주님은 바리새인들을 향해 “이제부터 너희는 찬송하리로다 주의 이름으로 오시는 이여 할 때까지 나를 보지 못하리라.”는 말씀을 하셨습니다. 물론 이 표현은 “주의 이름으로 오는 이가 복이 있나니”의 의미로 보아야 한다는 말을 하였습니다. 하지만 그 뒤에 주의 이름으로 오는 이에 대한 부분은 분명 주께서 하신 말씀 그대로입니다. 이는 오늘 본문 말씀과 상치됩니다.

어쩌면 거짓 선지자와 거짓 그리스도들이 바로 이런 말씀에 근거하여 자신을 그리스도라 주장하는 것일 수도 있습니다. 그러나 오늘의 본문에서는 그런 자들이 오더라도 결코 현혹되지 말라고 하신 것입니다. 그리고 오늘 본문 마지막에 주님이 오시는 것에 대한 옳은 인식을 알려주셨습니다. 거짓 선지자와 거짓 그리스도가 자신들이 주님의 이름으로 왔다 하는 것은 소위 내가 받았다는 식의 표현입니다.

이러한 거짓을 분별하는 것과 동시에 또 한가지 경계해야 할 것은 주의 오심을 일어날 사건들로 증거 받고자 하는 태도입니다. 이는 2000년전 바리새인들이 불수레 타고 올 엘리야를 기다리다가 오신 그리스도를 부정한 것과 같은 상황입니다. 그러므로 우리는 오늘의 주님의 말씀을 통하여 주님의 재림에 대한 바른 분별력을 가져야 할 줄로 생각합니다. 그것은 “번개가 동편에서 나서 서편까지 번쩍임 같이 인자의 임함도 그러하리라.”입니다.

전통적 해석 방식은 이 구절을 재림의 공개성, 분명성, 보편성을 보이는 것이라 합니다. 이러한 면은 그 이전에 하신 광야나 골방, 즉 지역이나 특별한 계시에 의한 선택된 이에게 되는 것이 아니라는 점과 비교되고 있습니다. 이는 공감할 수 있는 내용입니다. 하지만 이러한 관점은 이미 주님의 재림을 물리적 사건으로 이루어질 것이라는 해석을 전제하고 있습니다.

이러한 전제와 해석은 34절 말씀에서 곤란한 상황을 맞게 됩니다. “내가 진실로 너희에게 말하노니 이 세대가 지나가기 전에 이 일이 다 이루리라.” 오늘날까지의 많은 기독자들이 주님의 재림을 고대하는데 그것이 주님의 초림 때처럼 종말의 어떤 특수한 세대에게만 국한된 말씀인 것으로 생각합니다. 그리고 그러한 기대는 34절 말씀을 해석하기 어렵게 합니다. 물론 이러한 표현은 여기에만 나타나는 것이 아닙니다.

진실로 너희에게 이르노니 여기 섰는 사람 중에 죽기 전에 인자가 그 왕권을 가지고 오는 것을 볼 자들도 있느니라  마태복음 16:28

이 동네에서 너희를 핍박하거든 저 동네로 피하라 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 이스라엘의 모든 동네를 다 다니지 못하여서 인자가 오리라  마태복음 10:23

즉 주님의 재림을 생각할 때 그것이 2000년전 제자들의 상황에도 적용되고 오늘을 사는 우리에게도 동시에 적용되어야 한다는 점을 반드시 유념해야 합니다. 즉 주님의 재림은 장래 어떤 특수한 세대에만 적용되는 사건이 아니라는 것입니다. 그러므로 위에 번개처럼 임하시는 것에 대한 것도 역사적으로 물리적 재림의 장면이라는 전제를 풀고 생각해 본다면 다른 의미가 있음을 생각해 볼 기회를 얻습니다.

우리는 재림하시는 주님에 대하여 얼마나 알고 있습니까? 주님은 이미 부활하셔서 이전 나사렛 예수로 계실 때와 같지 않음을 충분히 보여주셨습니다. 먹을 수도 있지만 문을 닫아도 나타나시기도 하고 다른 모습으로 변형되시기도 합니다. 그런데 여기서 한 가지 아주 중요한 특성을 알아야 합니다. 그것은 참 사람이시면서 또 참 하나님으로서 시간과 공간으로부터 초월해 계신다는 점입니다. 그러한 주님이 재림하시는 것입니다.

그러므로 주님의 재림을 시간적 미래의 어떤 사건으로 국한 하는 것이 아니라 모든 시대의 모든 성도들의 궁극적 바람은 결국 주와 연합함인데 이 언약을 성취하심이 바로 재림의 사역이라는 점을 이해할 수 있어야 합니다. 역사적으로 어느 시대에서도 어느 선진들도 재림하신 주님을 물리적 상황으로 맞이한 경우가 없습니다. 하지만 저들은 모두 재림 하신 주님과의 연합된 삶을 이야기하였습니다. 특히 아브라함의 경우 더 그러했습니다.

그러면 위 본문의 의미는 어떻게 해석해야 할까요? 번개가 이쪽에서 저쪽까지 번쩍이는 것은 깨달음의 모습으로도 볼 수 있습니다. 그러면 바울에게도 아브라함에게도 그리고 오늘 우리에게도 동일한 방식의 주님을 만날 수 있게 됩니다. 그리고 다음은 “주검이 있는 곳에 독수리가 모일지니라.”는 구절입니다.

독수리를 심판으로 푸는 경우가 많습니다 그러면 독수리는 다시 오시는 주님으로 해석하게 됩니다. 이는 현재 이 구절이 장차 심판주로 오실 주님에 대한 말씀으로 전제하고 내리는 해석입니다. 하지만 이 독수리들은 죽은 시체를 뜯어 먹으러 오는 것입니다. 그것은 심판의 의미로 볼 수 없습니다. 오히려 심령이 죽은 것을 알기에 미혹의 선지자들이 그들 위에 내려 앉는다고 해석하는 것이 옳습니다.

One of the hopes of Christians living in the modern age is that the Lord will come again. The text was recorded for this purpose. Today’s passage, among them, especially teaches us what we must not fall into being deceived by. It was said that many came in the name of the Lord, showing signs and wonders, and even deceiving the elect. But He also said, “Do not go after such people.”

In fact, in the previous passage, the Lord said to the Pharisees, “From now on you shall praise him, O who comes in the name of the Lord, for you shall not see me until you have.” Of course, I meant that this expression‎ should be understood in the sense of “Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.” But the part concerning those who come in the name of the Lord is exactly as the Lord said. This contradicts today’s passage.

Perhaps false prophets and false Christs base their claim of being Christ on such words. But in today’s passage, He says that even if such people come, they must never be deceived. And at the end of today’s passage, He gave us a correct understanding of the coming of the Lord. The false prophet and false Christ’s claim that they came in the name of the Lord is a so-called expression‎ of “I have received it.”

Along with discerning such lies, there is another thing to be wary of: the attitude of wanting to receive the Lord’s coming as evidence through the events that will take place. This is the same situation as when the Pharisees, 2,000 years ago, were waiting for Elijah to come in a fiery chariot and denied the Christ who had come. Therefore, through the Lord’s words today, we believe that we should develop a proper discernment regarding the Lord’s second coming. It is: “Just as lightning flashes from the east to the west, so shall the coming of the Son of Man be.”

The traditional interpretive approach says that this passage reveals the publicness, clarity, and universality of the Second Coming. This aspect is being contrasted with the wilderness or the room of confinement you had before, that is, that it is not for the one chosen by region or special revelation. This is something I can relate to. However, this perspective already presupposes the interpretation that the Lord’s second coming will take place as a physical event.

This premise and interpretation lead to a difficult situation in verse 34. “I tell you the truth: This will all be accomplished before this generation is finished.” Many Christians to this day await the Lord’s second coming, thinking that, like His first coming, it is a message limited only to a particular end-time generation. And such expectations make it difficult to interpret the words of verse 34. Of course, such expressions do not appear only here.

Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom. Matthew 16:28

But whenever they persecute you in one city, flee to the next; for truly I say to you, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel until the Son of Man comes. Matthew 10:23

In other words, when we think of the Lord’s second coming, we must keep in mind that it should apply not only to the situation of the disciples 2,000 years ago, but also to us living today. In other words, the Lord’s second coming is not an event that applies only to some particular generation in the future. Therefore, if we open up the premise that what comes upon us like lightning above is, historically speaking, a scene of the physical Second Coming, and think about it, we gain an opportunity to consider that it may have another meaning.

How much do we know about the Lord who will return? The Lord had already risen and fully shown that He was not the same as the former Jesus of Nazareth. It may eat, but even if the door is closed, it may still appear, and it may also transform into another form. However, here there is one very important characteristic that we need to know. It is that, both as a truly human being and as a truly God, He transcends time and space. It is that such a Lord will return.

Therefore, we must understand that the Lord’s second coming is not confined to some event in the future, but that the ultimate desire of all believers in all ages is ultimately to be united with the Lord, and that fulfilling this covenant is precisely the work of the second coming. Historically, in no era or among no advanced nations has the Lord, who has returned, ever been met in a physical situation. But they all spoke of a life united with the Lord who has returned. It was especially so in Abraham’s case.

Then how should the meaning of the above text be interpreted? Lightning flashing from one side to the other can also be seen as the form of enlightenment. Then we can meet the Lord in the same way to Paul, to Abraham, and to us today. And next is the verse, “Where there is a carcass, the eagles will gather.”

There are many cases of releasing the eagle as a judgment Then the eagle is interpreted as the Lord who comes again. This is an interpretation that assumes this passage is a statement concerning the Lord who will come to be the Judge in the future. But these eagles are coming to tear apart and eat dead carcasses. It cannot be seen as the meaning of judgment. Rather, it is correct to interpret that, knowing that the spirit has died, the prophets of deception descend upon them.

Numbers 6:24-26
