빌립보서3:12-21 진행형 믿음의 경주

신앙을 골인 지점까지 달리는 경주의 이미지로 묘사합니다. 요즘 유행하는 마라톤 레이스를 떠올려보자. 달리기는 즐겁지만 위기와 고통의 순간이 찾아오기도 한다. 주님과 믿음의 선배들이 응원하며 기다리는 골인 지점까지 무사히 잘 달리기 위해서는 무엇이 필요할까? 공주야! 선생님은 학생들에게, 부모님들은 자녀들에게 위인전을 읽게 하는 이유는 책 속의 위인들을 삶의 본으로 삼기를 바라기 때문일 것이다.

It depicts faith as the image of a race to the goal. Recall the popular marathon race these days. Running is fun, but it can also bring moments of crisis and pain. What is it necessary to run safely to the goal where the Lord and the elders of faith are cheering and waiting? Princess! Teachers may have their children read the great men's books because they want to model their lives on the great men in the books.

조선 왕조500년을 읽으면서 수많은 위인들을 만났지만 "나를 본 받으라"고 말하는 선생이나 부모는 눈을 씻고 찾아봐도 없더라.어느 누가 자신의 삶에 그토록 자신 만만 할 수 있겠느냐? 그런데 바울은 너무도 당당하게 "나를 본 받으라"고 말한다. 도대체 그는 어떤 삶의 길을 걸어왔기에 이런 말을 할 수 있을까? 수감 중인 바울은 "뒤에 있는 것은 잊어 버렸다"고 한다. 그가 지나온 인생 길 위에는 수많은 과오와 실패와 죄악이 널브러져 있다. 교회를 핍박한 일은 가장 후회할 만한 일이지.

I met a lot of great men while reading the 500th anniversary of the Joseon Dynasty, but I couldn't find any teachers or parents who said, "Be an example of me!" Who can be so confident in their lives? Paul is so confident that he says, "Be an example of me." What kind of path has he taken in his life that he can say this? Paul, who is in prison, says, "I forgot what was behind me." There are many mistakes, failures, and sins on his path. The most regrettable thing is that he persecuted a church.

그런데 바울은 과거에 매여 있기를 거부했다. 뿐만 아니라 그가 행한 모든 업적과 성공도 잊었어. 피를 흘려 세운 교회지만 ‘내 교회’라 주장하지 않았다. 실패한 과거와 성공한 과거를 모두 잊은 것이야. 믿음의 경주는 그리스도의 날까지 끝나지 않을 것이기에 바울은 이미 다 이룬 것처럼 멈춰 서지 않았단다. 머무르면 제자리가 아닌 퇴보라는 것을 알기에 푯대를 향하여 끝임 없이 달려갔어. 이미 왔지만 아직 다 오지 않은 그것을 잡으려고 ‘선 줄로 생각하지 않고 넘어질까 조심한 것‘이다.

However, Paul refused to be tied to the past. Not only that, but he also forgot all of his achievements and successes. It was a blood-stained church, but he didn't claim it was "my church." He forgot both the failed and successful past. The race of faith would not end until Christ's Day, so Paul didn't stop as if he had already accomplished it. I knew that if I stayed, it would be a regression rather than a place, so I ran endlessly toward the sign. To catch it, which had already come but not yet, I was 'cautious about falling over without thinking about it as a line'.

그가 이미 시작된 부활의 완성을 위하여 향해 달려간 것은 예수께 잡힌바 된 그것을 잡으려는 것이야. 이제 그림이 분명해졌다.

우리의 바울은 자신의 성취를 본받으라는 것이 아닐 것이다. 이미 얻은 것도 없고 온전히 이룬 것도 없으니 내세울 것도 없지만 앞서 '나를 본 받으라"고 한 말은 ‘그리스도의 십자가에 원수’로 행하는 이들을 염두에 두고 있는 말이다. 그들은 십자가에서 온전히 이루신 그리스도의 의를 부정하고, 음식 규례를 우상으로 삼으며, 육체를 자랑하는 자들이었다.

What he is rushing towards the completion of the resurrection, which has already begun, is to catch it that has been captured by Jesus. Now the picture is clear. Our Paul will not be asking us to emulate our achievements. There is nothing to put forward because we have already gained nothing and achieved it completely, but the words 'follow me' are in mind of those who do it as 'enemies on the cross of Christ'. They were those who denied the righteousness of Christ, made food rules an icon, and showed off their bodies.

폐일언하고 육신을 의지하는 자들은 십자가의 원수가 아니냐? 그들의 마지막은 멸망이다. 그러므로 종교적 열심과 자랑으로 사는 자들을 모방하지 말고 그리스도를 모방하여 사는 바울 자신을 모방하라는 것이다. ‘100인의 명사 초청‘ 토론을 보면 하나같이 성공하기 위해 자신을 벤치마킹하라고 말들 하지만 바울은 ‘이렇게 사는 것이 그리스도께 나아가는 길이다’를 보여주는 것이다. 성공 신화의 주인공이라도 그 자신 만을 드러내는 사람은 우리의 본이 될 수 없다.

Aren't those who speak ill and rely on the body the enemy of the cross? Their last is destruction. Therefore, rather than imitating those who live with religious fervor and pride, imitate Paul himself who lives by imitating Christ. In the discussion of "100 invitations to nouns," they are told to benchmark themselves in order to succeed, but Paul shows that 'living like this is the way forward for Christ'. Even the protagonist of a successful myth cannot be an example for us to reveal ourselves.

그러나 실패하고 넘어진 찌질이라도 오직 그리스도를 드러낸다면, 우리가 따라야 할 이정표가 될 것이다. 그 분이 흥하시길 바라는 바보 바울, 바보 세례요한처럼. 나는 딸내미들에게 나를 본받으라고 할 수 있는 삶을 살고 있는가? 경주를 완주하고 감격스러운 순간을 맞으려면 무엇이 필요한가?

But even a failed and fallen stump would be a milestone we should follow if it only revealed Christ. Like Paul the fool, John the Baptist, the fool, who wants him to flourish. Do I live a life where I can tell my daughters to emulate me? What does it take to complete the race and have an emotional moment?

목표도 없이 그냥 살았던 한 주간을 회개합니다. 내가 사는 이유가 그저 자식 잘 키우고 돈 버는데 있는 것이 아니고 부활의 큰 꿈을 체험하고 이루는데 있음을 다시 확인 시켜 주셔서 감사합니다. 바울 선생님은 남의 잘못도 눈물을 흘리며 말 한다 하였는데 내 허물에 무감각하였음을 용서하여 주옵소서. 그리스도를 드러내는 인생을 살게 하시고 나를 본받으라고 말하는 바울의 삶을 나도 살 수 있게 도와주옵소서.

I repent for the week I just lived without a goal. Thank you for reaffirming that the reason I live is not just to raise my children well and make money, but to experience and achieve my big dream of resurrection. Mr. Paul said he would talk about other people's mistakes in tears, but please forgive me for being insensitive to my faults. Please help me live the life of Paul, who tells me to emulate myself and lead a life that reveals Christ.
