낙엽(落葉)이 발이 숨는 못물가에
우뚝우뚝한 나무 그림자
물빛조차 어섬푸레히 떠오르는데,
나 혼자 섰노라, 아직도 아직도,
동(東)녘 하늘은 어두운가.
By pond of fallen foliage that hide feet;
Over the steep shadows of risen tree;
Though even water color floats up dimly,
Be it known I am standing alone till now.
Is eastern sky still dark?

천인(天人)에도 사랑 눈물, 구름 되어,
외로운 꿈의 베개, 흐렸는가
Tears of love to my dear in heaven;
Did they turn to clouds and
Let her pillow of lone dream cloudy?

나의 님이여, 그러나 그러나
고이도 붉으스레 물 질러 와라
하늘 밟고 저녁에 섰는 구름.
반(半)달은 중천(中天)에 지새일 때.
Yet, my love, please please
Come ‘cross the water primly in red.
Clouds suspended in the eve, stepping on sky
As the half moon’s in midst of heavenly vault.
