  Sub-gate 24 : Jun-gye(遵戒,준계)... Observing the precepts / rules ... Article 260.

遵(준)은 지키는 것이며 戒(계)는 參佺八戒(참전팔계)이다.

  Jun(遵,준) means to observe or keep,

  and Gye(戒,계) refers to Eight Precepts of Chamjeon(Chamjeon-palgye).

새 옷을 입은 사람은 정연함을 존중하여 남루하게 되는 것을 두려워한다.

  A person wearing new clothes values neatness and fears becoming shabby.

새로 목욕한 사람은 청결함을 존중하여 더러워 지게 됨을 두려워한다.

  A person who has newly bathed values cleanliness and fears becoming dirty.

戒(계)를 지킨다는 것은  새 옷을 입은 사람이 정연함을 존중하는 것같이 부지런히 근원을 돌보는 것이다.

  Observing the precepts means diligently tending to one′s spiritual origin,

   just as one wearing new clothes values neatness.

방자함과 태만함이 없다면 사람이 온화하게 되고(人和,인화),

  If there is no arrogance or negligence, a person becomes gentle(In-hwa: Human Harmony),

神(신) 또한 온화해지며(神和,신화), 神(신)이 온화함에 하늘 또한 온화해진다(天和,천화).

  the divine spirit also becomes gentle(Shin-hwa: Divine Harmony),

  and as the spirit becomes gentle, Heaven too becomes gentle(Cheon-hwa: Heavenly Harmony).

遵은 守也요 戒는 參佺八戒也라 (준은 수야요 계는 참전팔계야라)

   Jun(遵,준) means to guard or keep, 

   and Gye(戒,계) refers to the Eight Precepts of Chamjeon(Chamjeon- paigye).

新衣者는 主整하여 惟恐襤褸하고 (신의자는 주정하여 유공남루하고)

  One wearing new clothes prioritizes neatness and fears becoming regged;

新浴者는 主潔하여 惟恐汚穢하나니 (신욕자는 주결하여 유공오예하나니)

  one who has newly bathed prioritizes cleanliness and fears becoming defiled.

遵戒를 如主整主潔하여 顧勤而無放怠하라 (준계를 여주정주결하여 고근이무방태하라)

  Likewise, observe the precepts as if preserving neatness and cleanliness,

   caring for them with diligence and leaving no room for recklessness or sloth.

人和면 神亦和하고 神和면 天亦和니라. (인화면 신역화하고 신화면 천역화니라.)

  When humanity achieves harmony, the divine spirits also become harmonious;

  and when the divine spirits are harmonious, Heaven itself becomes harmonious.

 [Explanation, 풀이]

이 260事(사)는 參佺八戒(참전팔계)라는 이름이 나온다.

  In this Article 260, the name Chamjeon- palgye(Eight Precepts of Chamjeon) appears.

參佺八戒(참전팔계)랑 팔강령을 의미함을 알수있다.

  We can see that Chamjeon- palgye refers to the Eight Principles(Eight Guiding Commandments).

그리고 그 내용은 본 경전 전체를 압축하여 말함도 알수있다.

  Furthermore, we can recognize that its content summarizes and compresses the entire scripture.

또한 이 參佺八戒(참전팔계)를 지키며 "人和(인화)⟶ 神和(신화)⟶ 天和(천화)"가 순서적으로 이루어 진다고 했다.

   It also states that by observing there Eight precepts, harmony is achieved sequentially:

   "Human Harmony(In-hwa) → Divine Harmony(Shin-hwa) → Heavenly Harmony(Cheon-hwa)."
