<p style="text-align: left;"></p><div class="figure-img" data-ke-type="image" data-ke-style="alignCenter" data-ke-mobilestyle="widthOrigin"><img src="https://t1.daumcdn.net/cafeattach/EK/5ab82b8c291454a5b210b20774c8b6f1441590ba" class="txc-image" data-img-src="https://t1.daumcdn.net/cafeattach/EK/5ab82b8c291454a5b210b20774c8b6f1441590ba" data-origin-width="900" data-origin-height="372"></div><p style="text-align: left;">요즘 브런슨이 워낙 핫한데 번역글 등에서 브런슨의 드래프트 당시 작은 키가 주목 받지 못한 이유중에 하나였다는 얘기가 자주 보여서 크로스 체크를 해봤습니다.<br><br>대학 농구를 제대로 각 잡고 본지가 그래도 꽤 되었고 브런슨 드래프트 당시에는 이미 NBA 보다 NCAA에 훨씬 더 관심을 가진지 오래였는데 기억을 더듬어 봐도 당시 브런슨이 사이즈 약점이 지적되었던 기억이 딱히 없어서 말이죠.<br><br>브런슨이 데뷔한 2017-2018 시즌 기준으로 모든 팀의 로스터를 모두 메뉴얼로 체크해 봤고 당시에 대한 기억 and/or 기록을 기준으로 스타팅 1번 포지션의 평균 신장을 내본 결과 평균 신장은 대략 6-2.5입니다. 브런슨은 6.2니까 대략 0.5인치 차이는 딱히 크지않죠. 게다가 백업 1번의 신장은 스타팅 보다 작은 경우가 많기 때문에 리그 1번 자원 전체의 사이즈와 브런슨의 키 비교는 0.5인치 차이보다 더 줄어들 것입니다. <br><br>게다가 한 가지 더 감안해야 할 것은 2017-2018 시즌에는 신발 신고 키가 공식이었는데, 당시 스타팅 1번이었던 선수 중 맨발 신장이 공식인 요새에는 안 뛰는 선수들은 espn에 공식 키가 프로필에 없습니다. 이 선수들에 대해서는 위키나 바스켓볼 레퍼런스 기준으로 계산을 했는데 이 데이터가 착화 신장인지 맨발 신장인지는 알 길이 없고(착화가 공식이었던 시절 키를 제가 다 기억은 못하니) 맨발 기준으로 업데이트 되었으면 상관없지만 착화 기준으로 남아 있다면 제가 한 평균 계산(맨발 기준)에서 평균치를 깎아야 함으로 평균 키는 더 낮아지겠죠.<br><br>다만 이번 시즌 리그 스타팅 메인 볼핸들러 신장을 다 체크해보니 대략 평균 6-4에 근접합니다.(메인 핸들러 사이즈가 확실히 예전에 비해 꽤 커지긴 했습니다.) 브런슨은 이에 비하면 현재 기준으론 작긴 하죠. 하지만 드래프트 당시를 보자면 작은 키 때문에 핸디캡이나 평가 절하를 받았다는 얘기에는 동의하기 힘드네요. <br><br>PS. 매뉴얼로 보고 엑셀에 숫자 넣어서 나온 데이터이기도 하고 관점에 따라 누가 당시 메인 핸들러였는지 다를 수 있기 때문에 수치는 잘못 되었을수 있습니다.</p>

Playmaker that can set teammates up for open shots... Really has improved every season he's been in the league... Borderline All-Star point guard... Small frame leaves him somewhat bad defensively... At least he gives effort.
Brunson doesn’t really have the physical tools to be a great defender. He doesn’t have outstanding size, nor does he have great length. He doesn’t generate or force turnovers. He was capable of holding his own in college and had the help that came with being a member of one of the top defensive teams around the entire landscape, but how will he fare in the NBA? His size limits his defensive versatility, as he’d only be able to truly guard opposing point guards.

수기로 체크하신 데이터는 아마 맞는 것이겠지만,
당시 브런스 평가를 잠깐 검색해보니
사이즈(신장, 윙스팬)가 weakness라고 전하는
매체들이 꽤나 많습니다.
몇 번 슥슥 검색했는데도 자료들이 나오네요.
그렇다면 좀 의아하네요 평균 키에 대충 수렴한다면 왜 약점이라 한건지. 순수하게 기억에만 의존하는것이지만 당시에 착화 신장 6-3이면 포인트 가드로는 충분한 사이즈로 분류되었건거 같은데.

네...
상대 포인트가드는 매치업할 수 있겠지만,
스위치로 매치업 상대가 다른 포지션의 (더 큰)
선수로 변경될 때, 사이즈(신장, 윙스팬 등)가
약점이 될 것이다...라는 게 공통된 포인트
