Summary:
Believers are urged to offer their bodies as a living, holy sacrifice pleasing to God, and to avoid conforming to the world. Instead, they should be transformed by the renewal of their minds to discern and follow God’s good, acceptable, and perfect will.
Teaching:
Unlike animal sacrifices, Jesus was offered as a living sacrifice, bearing all the sins of humanity. When we offer our bodies as living sacrifices, we do so as those who have believed in Jesus, received the Holy Spirit, and been freed from sin.
In offering our bodies, our sins are consumed, and we are clothed with God’s righteousness.
We must live according to God’s logic, not human reasoning. Spiritual worship must align with the logic of Scripture. A person who holds to this Scriptural logic is truly spiritual and can work for God’s righteousness and His kingdom.
God calls us to do what is good, pleasing, and perfect in His sight. As seen with Cain and Abel, God does not accept just anything - He receives only what is good, pleasing, and perfect to Him. Failing to meet this standard results in sin and guilt. Therefore, we must earnestly desire, seek to understand, and act upon God’s will, longing, and hope, disciplining our bodies into submission to carry it out.
