M : I'm feeling terrible this morning Judy, so I think I'll head home now.
W : I should cancel your 2:40 with Sherman Toys then, Mr. White. Perhaps reschedule for tomorrow morning?
M : Yes, make it for 11:00. I figure I'll be in by 10:30, but if not I'll call before 10:00.
W : I do hope you feel better soon. Probably all you need is a bit of rest. You have been overdoing it recently, I think.
44-46
M : I hope I can still get decent tickets for the big concert on the 20th.
W : Not to worry. The Grizzly Cola sales rep gave our Vice President about two dozen comp tickets; all floor-level seats.
M : I heard, but they've all been taken by other staff. I'll just have to call the box office and see what's left.
W : You might be out of luck. I read in the paper that sales have been strong. Almost sold out, in fact.
47-49
W : I've been calling Pierre LeBlanc in Paris repeatedly since 7:00 this morning and there's no answer. He's usually in the office late on Tuesdays.
M : You forgot. It is an election day there. Pretty much everything shuts down by 4:00 their time.
W : Really? I had no idea. I guess I'll have to wait and call him tomorrow. It's important that I get him soon.
M : Actually that won't work either. I know he's scheduled to be in Marseilles until Wednesday and Friday he starts his vacation.
50-52
M : Come on folks. Let's hear some ideas. We need to contrive a plan by the end of the day.
W : We've already heard suggestions from everyone but you didn't seem to like any of them. We're exhausted.
M : I just know that everyone here is capable of more original thinking than you've revealed today. That's all.
W : Well, could we at least take a break for fifteen minutes? Have a coffee and clear our heads?
53-55
W : Has Mr. Singh left already? I thought he'd be here until 6:00.
M : He had to go to the lawyer's for an emergency meeting about the lease for those houses in the new project. Why? Is there a problem?
W : I need his signature on these papers that I'd really like to get out today.
M : If it's important I could drive them over to the lawyer's office, get them signed and be back here in a jiffy.
56-58
M : I just missed my Toronto flight 5 minutes ago and I need to get there by midnight to connect with the 1:00 a.m. flight to Vancouver.
W : Let's see. There's a flight that arrives in Toronto at 12:10 a.m. That's close but you might be okay.
M : Well, I don't have any check-in luggage so there wouldn't be any delays waiting for anything.
W : In that case I'm sure you'll be fine.
59-61
W : Good evening, Slippery Slope. We have everything for skiing. This is Katrina. How can I help you?
M : Yes, I just checked into my hotel and found a binding on my ski is broken. Happened on the car trip I guess. I'm supposed to be on the slopes at 6:00 a.m. Can you do anything for me?
W : If you can get in here within an hour, yes. If the binding can't be repaired we'd replace the set. Either way, we could drop them off at your hotel by 5:00 in the morning.
M : That's fantastic. I'll be over right away.
62-64
M : Do you think I might borrow your digital camera for my trip next week? Mine seems to have a problem recently. The pictures are sometimes fuzzy.
W : I'd be happy to lend it to you except that I can't find it.
M : Oh great. Well, I guess I'll take mine and see if maybe it does just fix itself. Digital devices tend to be like that, I find.
W : If I find mine I'll let you know. But you might want to ask Greg. He has an expensive 5 mega pixel super camera.
65-67
M : Terry, could you spare me a few minutes of your time to look over these proofs with me?
W : I'd be happy to, Mark, but the bank closes in just over a half-hour and I have to make a deposit.
M : Well, then when you come back would be good. And do you think you could pick up something for me while you're there?
W : Of course. Tell me who to see and what to ask for and I'll be back in about an hour.
68-70
W : Were you as flabbergasted as I was at the news that Ken has been made V.P. of Marketing?
M : More. I'd have thought for sure it would go to Jean Paul or even Wally. They both have more experience, people skills and talent too, if you ask me.
W : Well, it makes me think there might be some truth to the rumor that Ken has been secretly dating the CEO's daughter for the past year.
M :You know, Mary, I never thought of that, but you're probably right. That explains it.

This will be your routine every day. When you arrive you'll be given a report showing how many bottles were filled on the night shift, including how many broken or incompletely filled bottles there were, and if there were any stoppages in the lines because of mechanical failures. Be sure that it has the shift foreman's signature at the bottom. You will also be given a projection for what should be completed during your shift and which post you will have that day. Usually you will have the same job for a month, but in emergencies you may be assigned to any location including the dumping room, boxing, quality control checking, or others. And, one final reminder: bottles under pressure often explode. Failure to wear your safety goggles at all times is grounds for dismissal.
77-79
Hello. This is Ken at Downhill Outdoors. Do you remember those black sweatshirts I got from you people about six months ago? The ones with the lightning bolt hitting a tree. Well, they sat here on sale forever and I was about to return them. Then, last week some skateboard wizard was interviewed on television and he just happened to be wearing one. The next day I sold twelve, the day after that fifteen, and the day after that the final thirteen I had in stock. So, I need more. As many as you have, as fast as I can get them. Call me back, please.
80-82
Thanks for coming. I'm sorry to interrupt your work but this is important. As you know, out bid to supply the linens for the Renfrew Hotel was accepted and we have done all the preliminary design work, ordered the textiles and scheduled production runs. Well, we have a problem. It seems the dimensions given to us were wrong on two items: the large towel racks and the pillows. I'll give you the specs in a minute. The point is, the differences are significant enough that it will affect the amount of material needed and our production costs. Our low bid to get the job left very little profit margin for us. There's no room for error. So what we must do now is figure out ways to save money on this. Let's get to work.
83-85
Good evening and welcome again to The Talkies. I'm your host Ralph Abernathy. Tonight we'll look at the latest George Hing feature, Ticonderoga Tale, a wide departure from his usual work, and talk with the director himself about what motivated him to take on this epic tale of frontier life that apparently no other director was interested in. We'll also visit the set of the latest Freddie Pitman thriller, Splatter City, and see how some special effects magic is worked. And of course, we'll run down this weeks' top 10 box office titles. All that and more when we return.
86-88
We will hear from only two guest speakers on our topic, Free Wireless Internet fro the City. This is not a debate so there will not be any formal pattern of statement or rebuttal. The speakers will simply present their views and will take questions, first from our guest panel and then from the audience, then from each other. No conclusions will be reached I am sure, but this will doubtlessly help those of you who are uninformed or confused to come to a more intelligent decision about how to vote when the issue appears on our next municipal elections ballot. Order of speaking was determined by a coin toss. First we will hear from Victor Merton of the Internet Service Providers Association, and then from Gilbert Norton of Cyber Libre.
89-91
Attention shoppers. Beginning Thursday the 17th, a large portion of our parking lot will not be available. Sections M through V will be inaccessible as they will be used for the annual carnival in support of local children's charities. This event will continue through that weekend, closing at 10:00 p.m. on Sunday and the lot will become free again shortly after noon on Monday after all rides, booths and equipment have been removed. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we know that our shoppers support these worthy causes. We hope that you can all make it to the carnival and have some fun while helping a lot of very deserving kids. Thank you.
92-94
Hi Pete, it's Phil. Great news. I've got tickets for the hockey game tonight. And they're fabulous seats too - about 12 rows up from the ice. I figured you'd have to be the guy most appreciative, so I'm calling you. Especially since they're playing Pittsburgh, your home town. The one problem is, I can't make it for the start of the game at 8:30. I've got to take a client to the airport and I don't expect I can get to the arena before 9:00. So, I'm going to leave your ticket at reception in my office when I leave. You can pick it up there before 6:00 and I'll see you at the game when I arrive.
95-97
Well friends, it looks like we are going to have to take out the galoshes, warm coats, and snow shovels rather early this year. A heavy weather system is moving in from the west and, if it keeps building in strength as it has been, could bring record-breaking snowfalls for this time of year. You can see it here over the plains where it has already dumped over sixteen inches of snow and paralyzed traffic over a 500-square mile area. It's been over 50 years since those areas received that much snow in November. Unless it changes track, we can definitely expect it to hit our city on Wednesday morning or possibly as early as late Tuesday night.
98-100
Ladies and gentlemen. We have just been informed that there in a minor problem about 75 miles ahead on the track. Normally I would stop at Colborne Heights just ahead only briefly to take on or deliver some small freight items if there were any, but today we'll disembark and wait for word that the problem has been rectified. We are told that will be approximately 90 minutes. There is a waiting room at the station, but it is small and cannot accommodate everyone. However, there is a large restaurant within a block, next to the town theater, and we've been told there is ample seating there. Please gather whatever personal belongings you will need as we will be stopping in approximately 10 minutes.
