동명사의 의미상 주어 : about the dead rising = about it that the dead rise = 죽은 사람의 부활에 대하여

⋆전치사 of 쪽에서 보면 목적격 Tom, 동명사 attending 쪽에서 보면 Tom's 소유격을 사용

He is ashamed that his son was foolish. = He is ashamed of his son's [his son] being foolish.

⋆전치사 of 쪽에서 보면 his son 목적격 동명사 being 쪽에서 보면 소유격 his son's을 사용

㉯ That the book is instructive is true. [복문] ➔ The book being instructive is true. [단문]

He is proud that he is rich. [복문] ➔ He is proud of (his, him) being rich. [단문] 주어가 같으므로생략

S s 주절과 종속절의 주어가 같다.

There is no possibility that he will pass the exam. [복문] 그가 시험에 합격할 가능성은 거의 없다

➔ There is no possibility of his [him] passing the exam. [단문]
