   Sub-gate 27 : Seong-sa(省事,성사)... Simplifying affairs ... Article 263.

省事(성사)는 일이 보통의 정도보다 지나친 것을 스스로 버리는 것이다.

  "Seong-sa(省事,성사)" means voluntarily casting aside matters the exceed the ordinary degree.  

뭇사람들은 일에 있어  구불구불하며 잔가지가 많다.

  Ordinary people tend to make affairs tortuous and overly complicated with minor details.

마치 험한 길에 돌이 많은것 같아 비록 계략을 다 쓴다 하더라도 일을 밝게 보지 못한다.

  It is like a rugged path strewn with rocks; even if they exhaust all their schemes,

  they cannot see affairs clearly.

오로지 哲人(철인)이라야 일을 집행함에 있어 태양이 남은 눈을 녹이듯
그 녹아 없어지는 것이 보이지 않아도 스스로 녹아 없어지게 된다.

  Only a wise person(sage), when handling affairs, causes problems to naturally

  melt away―much like the sun melting remaining snow ―resolving them invisibly and effortlessly.

省事者는 事之劇을 自去也라 (성사자는 사지극을 자거야라)
  "Simplifying affairs( Seongsa)" means personally removing the extreme

    complexities or excesses of work.

衆人은 曲路多岐하며 險路多石하여 (중인은 곡로다기하며 험로다석하여)

   Ordinary people follow winding paths with many forks,

    like rugged roads strewn with many stones,

雖窮術이라도 不能省事하고 (수궁술이라도 불능성사하고)

  so even if they exhaust every trick and method, they cannot simplify affairs;

惟哲人이라야 執事를 如太陽臨殘雪하여 (유철인이라야 집사를 여태양임잔설하여)

  only a wise person(sage) handles affairs like the sun shining down upon remaining snow,

不見其消而自消니라. (불견기소이자소니아.)

  causing them to melt away on their own, even if one cnnot see them actively melting.

 [Explanation, 풀이]

일을 못하는 사람일수록 핵심에서 벗어나는 자질구레한 것을 한없이 붙들고 시간만을 낭비하며

  The less capable a person is at work,

   the more they cling endlessly to minor details off the mark, wasting time,

잘못은 으례 남에게 떠넘기며 남의 장점은 질투하기 일쑤이다.

  customarily shifting blame to others, and often envying the virtues of others.

그러나 깨달은 사람은 일의 핵심을 아니 아무리 작은 것도 밝게 보아

  Hawever, an enlightened person understands thee core of matters,

  sees even the smallest detail clearly,

불필요한 일로 인한 낭비를 애당초 버리고 반드시 필요한 일만 하되

  discards waste from unnecessary tasks from the outset,

   and focuses solely on what is truly essential.  

그 결과는 보다 더 德(덕)스럽고 지혜로우며(30-9=21), 힘이 넘쳐 보이기 마련이다.

  As a result, their outcomes naturally appear more virtuous,

  wise (30-9=21), and full of vitality.

또한 그 결과는 반드시 남에게 베푼다(34-10=24).

  Furthermore, they always share these results with others(34-10=24).
