Summary:
Christ came as a servant to the Jews, proving God’s faithfulness in keeping His promises to the patriarchs. Yet His work was not limited to Israel—through Him, Gentiles also glorify God for His mercy. Scripture had long foretold this, declaring that the nations would praise the Lord, rejoice with His people, and place their hope in Him. Paul then prays that the God of hope would fill believers with joy and peace in faith, so that they may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Teaching:
A true believer does not speak in vain. They seek to fulfill their words, especially keeping their confessions of faith and the commitments they make before others. Only such genuine holy people of God can truly be called His workers.
Through God’s faithfulness, this salvation has been confirmed from the Jews to the Gentiles.
No matter how hard we strive with our own zeal or talents, we cannot accomplish it, because we ourselves are not truly faithful. All faithfulness belongs to God. The only way to share in God’s faithfulness is through the Holy Spirit. By receiving the Spirit of God, we are able to partake in His truth and faithfulness.
To have God’s faithfulness means to live out the Word we have received. Let us be followers of the Word and live as genuine holy people of God.
