제 28호......鎭怒(진노)......노여움을 진정함......第264事

  Sub-gate 28 : Jin-no(鎭怒,진노)... Calming anger ...  Article 264.

鎭怒(진노)는 성이나서 정상적이 아닌 것이 자신에게 미치지 못하게 하는 것이다.

  "Jinno(鎭怒,진노)" means preventing anger and abnormal behavior from affecting oneself.

착하지 않고 믿지 않으면  남들이 반드시 나를 비방하게 된다.

  If one is neither good nor trustworthy, others will inevitably slander them.

혹시 착하지 않고 믿지 않음이 없다 손치더라도 잘못 성냄에 있어 나에게 이르게 된다.

  Even if one is not lacking in goodness or trustworthiness,

  unjust anger can still reach them.

조화로운 德(덕)이 있으면 착하지 않거나 믿음이 없음이 없게 되어 잘못 성내는 것 역시 없게 된다. 

  If one possesses harmonious virtue(德,덕), there will be no lack of goodness or trust,

  and thus unjust anger will also cease to exist.

鎭怒者는 嗔怪不及於己也라 (진노자는 진괴불급어기야라)

  "Calming anger (Jinno-鎭怒,진노) means preventing outbursts of rage and abnormal

    conduct from reaching oneself.

有不善不信이면 人必責己하고 (유불선불신이면 인필책기하고)

  If one possesses ungoodness or unfaithfulness,

  people will inevitably blame and criticize them.

或無不善不信이라도 錯怒有至하나니 (혹무불선불신이라도 착노유지하나니)

  Even if one lacks ungoodness or unfaithfulness,

  unjust and misplaced anger may still reach them. 

有和德則無不善不信하여 人且信之하며 (유화덕즉무불선불신하여 인차신지하며)

  However, if one possesses harmonious virtue(Hwadeok),

  there will be no ungoodness or unfaithfulness, and people will trust them;

錯怒亦不至니라. (착노역부지니라.)

  thus, unjust anger will also fail to reach them.

 [Explanation, 풀이]

이 세상에 그 어떤 방패라도 반드시 뚫는 창이 있기 마련이지만

  While there is bound to be a spear in this world that can pierce any shield,

화합과 덕이라는 방패를 뚫는 창은 아직 없다.

  there is as of yet no spear that can pierce the shield of harmony and virtue.
