『The Midnight Special』은 〈C.C.R〉(Creedence

Clearwater Revival) 1969년 발매 된 4집 앨범 수록곡입니다.

이 곡은 미국 남부 죄수(罪囚)들 사이에서 불리던 오래된 민요에서

온 것으로 "야간 특급 여객열차(passenger train Midnight

Special)"에 그 기원(起源)을 두고 있고, "영원한 사랑의 불빛"이라는

의미를 내포 하고 있으며, 줄곧 'Country 풍(風)으로 연주되어

왔습니다. 수감자(收監者)들의 애환(哀歡)과 "고향으로 돌아가면 정말

바르게 살아야 겠다"는 다짐과 야간 특급 열차의 불빛 을 "희망의 빛"

으로 그리고 있는 내용의 곡입니다.

『The Midnight Special』은 역사가 오랜 만큼 수많은 가수들이

커버하면서 인기 곡을 많이 만들기도 했었습니다.

《Beatles》 '폴 매카트니'의 단골 곡 이기도 하며 우리에게는

〈C.C.R〉 의 곡이 꽤 귀에 익습니다.
