Summary:
Paul urges the believers to join him in prayer, asking that he be rescued from opposition in Judea and that his service to the holy people of God in Jerusalem be well received. He hopes, by God’s will, to come to them in joy and find rest in their company. He ends with a blessing of peace to them all.
Teaching:
Paul had gathered an offering from the Gentile churches to bring relief to the poor believers in Jerusalem.
He asked for prayer that, when he arrived, the holy people of God in Jerusalem would receive the offering in the spirit it was given - that they would see it as an expression of genuine love and unity in Christ. His desire was not just to provide material help but to strengthen fellowship between the churches and show that Gentiles and Jews alike shared in one body of faith.
In Acts chapters 2 and 3, we see that believers who received the Holy Spirit devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and shared their possessions and money to help those among them who were in need. This is the kingdom of God—something that can only be lived out through love.
