Summary:
Paul sends greetings from his co-workers -Timothy, Lucius, Jason, and Sosipater. Tertius, who wrote down the letter, also greets the believers, along with Gaius, Erastus (the city treasurer), and Quartus. Paul then closes with a doxology, praising God who strengthens believers through the gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ. This message, once hidden but now revealed through the prophetic Scriptures, is made known to all nations to bring about obedience of faith. Paul ends by glorifying the only wise God through Jesus Christ forever.
Teaching:
Paul was able to gain many coworkers because he had the power of the gospel. Through him, people came to know Jesus, heard His word, and encountered Christ. For this reason, they were willing to give up their possessions and even their lives to join Paul in his ministry.
To win people, one must, like Paul, hold the mystery of the gospel through faith in Jesus Christ. In the same way, we too must cooperate as coworkers in the church, living together as one body.
The gospel is the power of God. It is the power that brings salvation to all who believe, the power that strengthens and upholds every believer. It is God’s power that begins, sustains, and completes salvation.
The gospel also comes through Jesus Christ. It is the wisdom of God, accomplished through Christ. By the cross of Christ, anyone who believes is justified - this is the wisdom of God.
